6'10, 240 , 40 inch vertical, good feel for a game, but esencially usless due his jumpshot & mental breakdowns.

With Fultz.

When he came out of Washington, he was supposed to "change the game" as the most complete offensive player since Carmelo Anthony.

Simmons was meant to redefine classic-PG play. He was stated as "the next Magic Johnson" in being able to play all five positions.

I cannot lose-sleep on dwelling on either, as for both, the NBA has enriched by over 100M. Each.

Speaking of the 2016 NBA draft, let's all recall that the Magic traded Domantas Sabonis, Victor Oladipo and Ersan İlyasova for Serge Ibaka that draft night.

One could make the case that İlyasova is better than Ibaka, meaning that Sabonis and Oladipo were "throw ins" to the trade.

Ah good times!

His talent doesn't justify the risk. He averaged what 6 ppg last year?

Simmons is one of the most perplexing players of the last ten years, footage everywhere of him draining shots from deep in the offseason and then he wouldn't do it in a real game. If he could get over his weird mental issues imo he would have been a top 10 player for a decade.

Even Paolo is not quite as talented as Ben was before the thing that happened in the playoffs against Atlanta.

If Ben Simmons would have figured it out, we wouldn't even have the opportunity to get him! Even without the 3 point shot he's an All Star.

Say we acquire him next month and have our personnel around him and pumping him up! He would respond with more encouragement to play better.

I go back to the Markelle situation, if we didn't take a chance on him years ago he would have been probably out the league years ago.

Orlando is an interesting place to be for players trying to get their mojo back. 8-)

Ben Simmons also has something to play for as well, his next contract!

Ben hasn't played anywhere near his all star level in years, guy got paid and checked out.

Obviously no.

If you really think he could play at that level again, why didn't he do it for Brooklyn?

Gotta think man

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

While Fultz didn't work out (basketball wise) in Orlando, I feel like he grew as a better overall person with his tenure here!

This is the one of the funniest things I've read on this board. "Yeah, this was a bad move basketball wise, but he grew аs a person".
And it only cost the Magic about 80 mln. dollars in salary and the pick which became Maxey, so why not try to improve Simmons's character too at a similarly low cost?

I'm very confident that Fultz would have been out of nba for at least 2 years if he landed on any of other 29 teams back in 2019.

This bust rehab centar approach needs to die off.

We just got rid of Fultz, a point guard with shooting issues. You want to being in Simmons who has even bigger 3 point issues?!

Why we always do that? Getting lower valued players and take a chance on growing them?

Why couldn't we be in the conversation of players who can compete and win us a Championship one day with our core?

Good point! We would have to give up players of value to acquire a top tier player and I don't think Orlando has ever acquired such a player.

Why not take a chance on a player of his caliber for one season?

The worst case scenario is we use his expiring contract in a deal to acquire more talent.
