Franz 2024-25 Most Improved Player Award?

Post#1 » by three3d » Fri Nov 22, 2024 5:02 pm

Total disclosure I threw down a small bet on Franz for MIP Award when he was +1600 now that’s down to + 575 only behind Jalen Williams of OKC. I think what Franz is doing should definitely make him the front runner though honestly. Keeping his ppg over 20 when Paolo comes back will be the key to that. But curious what everyone else’s take on MIP is so far and is Franz that guy.

Right now, that bet looks pretty good. Especially if Franz has to keep carrying the load while Paolo is out and he maintains similar stats when Banchero gets back in the lineup. I would be most worried about Normal Powell, to be honest.

Fun fact, the Orlando Magic are tied for the most winners of the Most Improved Player award.

Scott Skiles (1990-1991)
Darrell Armstrong (1998-1999)
Tracy McGrady (2000-2001)
Hedo Turkoglu (2007-2008)
Ryan Anderson (2011-2012)

Those were definitely some memorable seasons for me as a Magic fan. Especially Skiles and Turkoglu, guys that went from rotation players to absolute solid starters.

Totally forgot Ryno won MiP in Dwights last season here.
Now that I think about it JJ and Ryno was the original buddy ball dou.

MIP often goes to a "first-time All-Star" so he has a good chance for it. It depends on if he maintains his averages even when Paolo returns. That's for the coaching staff to figure out.
