How do we get to championship contenders?

+34% from 3 as a team
Under 12 TOs a game.

We may have the answer already in house. Run Jett off picks and draw up plays for him until he proves he's not elite in the JJ mold. He sure looks like he is. If not, find a guy (like Simons) who can come in and be a threat to hit 7 threes, even off the bench, every night.

Presuming Suggs, KCP (cough), da Silva, WCJ, Isaac are all hitting 3's at respectable levels and volume, this particular concern shouldn't continue to be the problem.

Jett has a ton more development needed and the problem is finding the minutes while we compete to win games. Jett has definitely shown signs to improving is all around game mainly by just offseason practice.

I’m curious what Jett’s future holds as it is the most open. Playing time is the challenge. 1 or 2 injuries in the guard/SF area is likely the main path at the moment.

My newest big question is can Suggs be a legitimate 3rd option? Paolo is a #1 option and Franz a #2. We are most lacking a 3rd option.

I still believe this team needs a microwave scorer off the bench.

Suggs definitely has to step up! His first few games without Paolo had been good. But not since especially his 3pt%

I am not saying he had to take the scoring load but definitely up his percentage and lower TO rate

Just give the guy racking up 0 point games less minutes and jett more

Yep. First things first we need to move that 20 million of wasted salary with Gary/Cole and attach a first rounder to get a scorer of the bench. Watch us take a leap with a Sexton/Herro/Clarkson off the bench. Our offense without Franz/P is deplorable.

The same thing we’ve needed over the past ten years it seems

A playmaker/shot creator
And three point shooting

I'm warming to the idea of Schroder...won't cost much at all, expiring deal and the Team Germany chemistry should matter...primarily running the second unit, often off ball with AB. Between the two of them, lots of emerging playmaking and Schroder has the ability to take over a game offensively, on occasion. Ultimately, AB makes him unnecessary - but, in the meantime, he learns by seeing how a fierce vet leads...I was never a huge Schroder fan (as a leading man), but the availability and seeming fit means he could check a lot of boxes without necessarily costing much...he might even see an opportunity to find a comfortable home on a fair deal to stay and finish out his career in a sunny, competitive environment instead of continuing to bounce around the league.

How can this team turn from a Playoff team to Championship Contention?

One can ask, "is the Magic in Championship Contention now"? It is a serious question. Orando has one of the best defenses of a gernation.

For me the answer currently is no. And simply becasue Suggs and Caldwell-Pope are not consistently making 38% of their threeballs on 4-attempts per game. If both magically get-better with Banchero's return, how is this not a second-round playoff team?
And from there, will any other team want to match-up against Orlando in round-2? Boston will beat Orlando. But would Cleveland? I am not so sure.

A Eastern-conference participation is dependent on improved distance shooting.

I think I can put it in perspective:

With Paolo out, which hurts, we have our new star in Franz Wagner, who has indeed stepped up to take the scoring load and make plays on all aspects. If he keeps playing like this, at the beginning of Feb, he is going to be an All Star.

AB has stepped up. Last night's 20 point game is really something to cheer about for me. So does Goga and JI.

And if by Christmas we are going to have a healthy Paolo. Wow? One word: Growth and Improvement. (nay, two words)

We just need Suggs to remain the consistency he had at the beginning of the season. If that is done, we are a whole lot better than last year

It's pretty much a sure thing I am winning this bet two weeks into the season. I will let you off the hook because it's Paolo's injury that is deciding factor so early.

If you still think you have a chance, we can keep the bet, I am not avoiding it.

I’m good keeping it.

With 19 games left, it is impossible to get over 48 wins anymore. I will send you my email in PM for that gift voucher.
