I absolutely do not believe even Weltman could convince the idiots who own the team that the objective for this year, coming off a 47-win regular season and a super competitive battle to very end 7 game series in Round 1, was simply to *make* the playoffs again as a 7 or 8 seed and get absolutely blasted in Round 1.

That is just not what the goal or objective was coming into this season at all.

The goal this season was 50+ wins and at least round-2 of the playoffs.

The players and coaching were very, very clear that "at least the 4-seed" was the minimal expectation.

The point of getting a higher % pick is to trade it for an actual asset that can help Paolo, Franz, and Suggs. Not to draft and develop a 18 year old in the 7-15 range using Weltmans bust metrics (length and Michigan).

If last year never happened, I would say playoffs. But I gotta go with lotto. Theres still time to get to 11. At 11 you have a 9.4% chance at a top 4 pick. We don't have a 9.4 chance of winning a series. Hell, we might not have a 9.4 chance to win a single game vs Boston or Cleveland in the playoffs. I'd rather take my chances in the lottery.
