Is it time to unleash McClung?

Post#1 » by fateis007 » Tue Jun 17, 2025 6:29 am

So we let go of Corey, and traded Cole, so that leaves us extremely thin at PG. I have seen a lot of options floated around, about using our MLE, but I just don't see Moritz getting cut, he is way to good off the bench.

Is it time to unleash the beast that is McClung.

The guy is a pointguard, he averaged 25.7/4/6 last year shooting 38% from 3 for the Osceola Magic. He is a career sniper from long distance and would come at a super low contract and become a fan favorite right away (3 time dunk champion). The kid is a scorer (exactly what we need) at 3 levels. It's not like he is a beat up vet with no upside, he is only 26.

I think the Magic should take a flier on the kid, i doubt anyone is more hungry then him we could bring on.

This was just 2 months ago.

If the Magic drafts a not-PG, McClung is proably the most likely 3rd string PG for this team in 2025/26. As he has less than 6 years service, he is affordable.

He already understands the offense. And he is an ecellent practice squad player that presumably can offer emergency backup minutes.

I am not "Hell Yes". bu he is an intersting option to be Mr-14 for htis team.

Only if we roll out a KIA onto the court every time he steps onto it.

Maybe as the third PG if CoJo isn’t re-signed.

But this type of post should’ve been created for Trevelin Queen. He deserves a 15-man contract.

IF they let Harris go too, I'm down for TQ getting his spot.

Mac would be a 4th year NBA player this upcoming season, so his minimum salary would be $2,461,461.

Queen would be a 5th year NBA player, so his minimum salary would be $2,667,944.

That's slightly more on both guys than Caleb makes now.

I can’t find his stats amd never saw him play
Has McClung had a chance to even fail in the NBA?
Or do they just say he’s not good enough and that’s it?
Could be the next Cole Anthony

Playing Mac McClung would be unfair to physics.

He'll be in camp...if he's got a shot, maybe he'll get it.

I'm assuming they know who he is already, but those consistent numbers, even in G League, are hard to dismiss.
