Not accurate.

Mavs, Kings, and Warriors were all told that they needed 14 players on their roster this season. They were all given a timeline to get one.

Teams are required to carry 14 players.

Yes, they are. During the season.

Than why in the world are we even having a conversation about signing a 14th player…right now before the season end?

The 14 players thing applies during the regular season, which we are no longer in.

*Eventually* (aka October) the Magic will need to have at least 14, but right now that doesn’t apply.

He’s not saying that.

He’s asking **once free agency starts** who will the Magic sign to fill the back end of their roster.

They could also draft multiple rookies or make another trade.

Then why are we having this conversation? We have 2 open roster spots that we can fill during the off season. Why do we have to sign a vet like the OP said and why should we take any of these players on the poll? We can acquire players through trades as well as signings.

You’re focused on the wrong thing here.

Forget about the timing aspect.

He’s really just asking who should they sign to fill out the bottom of the roster.

Now I do think he’s being a little premature because there’s other moves they can and probably will make beyond just signing a veteran minimum. But it’s not a totally unworthwhile question for him to ask.

We need more context. Ultimately if the 14th player plays significant minutes something likely went terribly bad.

Thanks. I thought this all effected this past season.

We have already consolidated four for one and I predict that Moritz is definitely declined and I'm considering Houstan to be uncertain, so I'm leaving their spot open. This puts us at 10 players with 5 open slots.

1. Paolo
2. Franz
3. Bane
4. Suggs
5. WCJ
6. AB
7. {Open}
8. JI
9. Goga
10. {Open}
11. TDS
12. {Open}
13. Jett
14. {Open}
15. {Open}

I'd assume that all of JI, WCJ, Moe, and Goga are not on the team to begin the season. Just too much of limited resources pointed at one and a half positions. Moe is going to have to be declined, I'd assume he is re-signed at a lower annual rate, but it is kind of a risk coming off injury. I'd say he's the most valuable of these guys to the Magic on a per game basis, definitely when considering salary (assuming something south of $9M)

The other three, all were disappointing, they all conceivably have value, Goga maybe the most. I'd say we keep two of these three but have no idea which two.

Going from a cap space team to a tax team in less than 12 months, its kind of a surprise when you realize the vet minimum is $3.3M, Sure would be nice to have Corey Joseph back as the third PG but not at that amount. Somebody get Killian Hayes on the line.

It would kind of be nice to get down to a point where we can spend the MLE, but we may just need to spread out the depth a little.

I'd also assume we decline Jett's 4th year. Disappointing that these late lottery/mid firsts aren't even lasting their rookie deals.
