Mac McClung's Qualifying Offer Withdrawn

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Sat Jul 5, 2025 8:43 pm

As everyone knows, a few days ago, The Magic withdrew their Two-Way Qualifying Offer to Three-time Slam Dunk Champion Mac McClung.

I think this was so McClung could be a unrestricted free agent and be free to look elsewhere for a shot to get on a 15 man roster as that was not going to happen here and believe McClung's agent requested it.

Hopefully, The Magic can find some Two-Way Players to develop.

If we weren't going to give him minutes last year, he won't get any next season.

Wish the guy the best!

Good guy and I believe a good player too. He deserves a shot.

I'm still kind of flummoxed we didn't call him up when we needed backup & 3rd string PG last year.

He would had gotten a chance but he was injured as well.

Oh! I didn’t know that! I thought he was tearing it up at the time when we were injured.

Someone else mentioned it, but it really did seem like he spent more time in a Magic uniform at the dunk competition than with his whole time with Osceola….

Wasn’t he down there for 2 years?

He's close to the same size as Reed Sheppard, who is also having a tough time getting minutes. Mcclung has a 7'10" standing reach with a 6'2.25" wingspan. Sheppard has a 7'9.5" standing reach with a 6'3.25" wingspan. Mcclung is just too small for the NBA.

We talk about Jase being small, but he has an 8'2 5" standing reach and a 6'6" wingspan. Tyus Jones has an 8'1" standing reach and a 6'5" wingspan.

I figured he wouldn’t be here this season when we didn’t use him at all when we had no guards.

Magic should get a PG, Wing and big for their 3 Two-Way Deals.

Only Ethan Thompson is signed to a Two-Way but they are not guaranteed.

It would be good if they can get a Trevelin Queen type of player who can come in and play when needed.
