Should we ink an extension this offseason or should we wait and see if he goes free agency? Is our extension limited to 10% raise to his current or (Bird rights?) are we able to offer him anything up to the max?

As the Magic have full bird rights to Hedo, he could be signed up to the league Max. (That won't happen). Importantly, the Magic will be able to match any deal any other team can provide.

Let's say the Magic keep Hedo. Then what? After the 2009/2010 season, the Magic could offer a 3 year, $30 million deal (9/10/11). Why would he leave Orlando for those numbers?

Then, in this case, I would think most likely scenario would be; Rather than signing an extension this year, he opts out of his contract end of next season and re-sign with using Bird rights to anything they agree. Similar to what Arenas doing this offseason.

This is what I would like, personally.

This gives us another season to see if Hedo keeps up this great play, or whether he reverts to his inconsistent play of the past.
