We dont need a PG or Mike Miller. We're not going to win with Foyle if Dwights out with foul trouble.

Oak starts threads similar to this after every game. Maybe not the same exact message but the same intent. This time, he points out nine playoff teams that the Magic have struggled to beat, seven of which are in the West. I guess if the Magic made it that far in the playoffs this year, they would be doing pretty well.
It was a tough loss. The Magic played well, but fouls kept the Magic's top two scorers out for almost two full quarters of the game. While Kobe played 46 minutes and 8 seconds of the total 48, Dwight was limited to less than 30 minutes and Turkoglu to less than 33. I think that explains a lot right there. Those are the kind of imbalanced officiating that makes me madder than hell. Pau is flopping like a rag doll and getting rewarded for it. Take Orlando's two best players out and then tell the Magic, "Ha! Try to win!" Believe me, the Lakers were fouling just as much if not more. It's not the only reason they lost the game, but it did make them play on basically one leg much of the game.
I agree that the Magic need another power player, but I wouldn't sacrifice the house to get a mediocre power player for this season. For those of you who love to say Otis thinks we're fine, he's acknowledged that he's talking to people but he also says he's not going to make a deal just for the sake of making one. When it comes right down to it, maybe people are trying to trade him garbage. You want him to make a garbage deal so you can say he tried to do something?

Thank you , sir. I guess some people on this board need to look at you opinion to understand how other teams look at us.
We're not the best team in the nba, our main weapon is 22 years old, we're missing our (probably) starter PF with an injury that sidelined him for the season and still we're 12 games above .500, beat the Celtics twice, beat the Lakers at their home, beat the pistons and almost got the Lakers again even with Dwight sitting for most of the second half and Hedo playing bothered by his elbow.
Yes, in the East we can win it. It's a long shot, but we can get to the conference finals and even win it.
If we don't, well, so won't 14 other teams. We'll have the MLE, the LLE to use in order to improve the team and our expirings might just get us something good in return real soon. But if they don't I won' panic.
We are one of the best in the East and our record shows it clearly. Threads like this one are absurd.

This games is a 100% indicator that the Magic can go against a WC contender and play hard, playoff-style bb for 4 quarters. Both teams played well and hard. As high as the score was, both teams played some great defense, particularly in the fourth. I don't think Kobe made an uncontested shot, and those that were made by Lakers resulted from double-teaming Kobe, who can really find the open man. Pau outsmarted Dwight. I'm sure Coach Ewing will see to it that doesn't happen again.

yea i agree with Solid Snake, people need to take a chill pill. After every loss it's like it's the end of the world. You can't win them all. Be happy that we're a) 12 games above .500, b) 3rd in the East after having a LOSING record last season, and c) beating contending teams (yes we lose to them too, but that's to be expected).
News flash here guys! Our last 3 losses, @ Detroit, vs Dallas, and vs L.A., all 3 of them have better records than us. And there's a reason consider the West far superior, so take that into consideration that two of our last 3 losses were to contenders out there.

oakfanintheeast wrote:Orlando needs to make a move if they are remotely serious about being a contender in the playoffs. If you can't win at home, you aren't going to win of the road. There are several teams in the nba, who orlando cannot beat if they ever met in the playoffs or finals:
1. Pistons
2. Celtics
3. Spurs
4. Suns
5. Lakers
6. Jazz
7. Cavs
8. NO
9. Etc..Houston
I'd be worried about playing the Hawks, raptors as well.
If orlando makes a move, a o'neal/Miller move, they would surely benefit and rocket past several of those teams. But they won't Otis says they're OK! yeah okay... smith is as good as a GM as he was a player.. average.
well your wrong we beat the cavs we beat the pistons at home we beat the celts at home twice we beat the lakers once with andrew bynum, we could beat huston or the jazz the suns would probably be a little easier now shawn marion less hawks and raptors? okay. they played good last night fought hard i think your getting a little worried to for nothing

Cavs aren't a Contender... Lebron James just make them look like that. Pistons we beat once off a final shot. And they Blew us Out the other 2 times. Houston we haven't faced with a healthy Tracy McGrady. And we lost against the Rockets without him. Jazz are obviously better.

Well they went to the Finals last year with basically the same team that they have now, so I think that warrants them "Contender" status.
Also, I like how you discredit us winning against the Pistons on a final shot, and then go on to point out us losing to the Rockets without acknowledging the final shot.
I can't say I'm surprised though.
You can make all these little notes and exceptions, I wouldn't expect anything less, but the fact is we're 12 games above .500, and it isn't because our schedule has been a cakewalk.
According to Jeff Sagarin (USA Today), we've had the 15th toughest schedule. [Link]
That puts us right dead center in strength of schedule, while our record is 12 games above .500; His computer ranking puts us at 9th.
For what it's worth, the only two teams ahead of us in the East (Detroit & Boston), rank 20th and 30th, respectively, in terms of difficulty of schedule.

miller and reggie evans would seriously put this team over the top. evans avgs. 3 offensive rebounds a game. And Miller running this team would be a thing of beauty.
Cleveland went to the finals with a lot less last year. I would rather the Magic get bounced in the 1st round this year, than them make a bad trade and morgage their future to get to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Cleveland got far into the playoffs because of their Defense. Same with Philadelphia, and Nets who also had 1 Man shows. Though their offenses were average at best.
But Offense alone won't get you far into the playoffs. Most people should know that.

You also can't win in the playoffs without offense, as the Magic showed last season.
You need a good balance, and so far the Magic are tilted a little closer to offense than defense. We'll still win more games in the playoffs - along with a probable series - because of our offense and Dwight playing D.
