:nonono: You'd think the NBA would want the dunk contest to get as many ratings as possible and draw in as many fans as possible.

And they wonder why the dunk contest's popularity has declined steadily over the years.

So now the fans can vote... I bet you anything that if yao ming was in the contest he would win on fan voting alone!

That's so weak. They should just let him (and Gay?) do an unofficial dunk on a twelve-footer. I want to see Howard's hops!

They should just have a one dunk round where the rim is at 12 feet...everyone has to do one dunk from that height. Why not?

That's stupid.

But, I'm all for a select player getting to do what he wants for his turn.

I say Dwight should purposely attempt to break the hoop like Shaq, accidently, did at least once while playing for us (have they fixed that issue?)

I'd like to have seen Green dunk on a 13 ft ring.

Doesnt that mean that not only can he touch the top of the back board, but he can actually get a good palms length above it?

I'd give him 50, 50, 50, 50 if he just touches the top. Doesnt even dunk.

[Secretly I do think he just said that knowing it wouldnt be raised and makes him sound like a cocky idiot, OOPS NOT SO SECRET NOW.]

Not sure why the NBA would start using gimics. A 12 foot rim is a gimic.

As an example, why not add the Magic dancer trampolines??? An NBA guy could clearly do back-flip dunks from such a device. And that would be cool. But it would not be basketball.

I want to build somethign to attach to the rim to make it 12'. I can do it, all i have to do is get in touch with Dwight. It can come on and off in about 2 minutes, while being safe and doing no damage to the rim or your beloved Dwight howard.

Someone, anyone if you have a contact at the Magic please let me know. I will be down there for the ALL-STAR game and can hand deliver it. Thanks

What's the ruling on props this year? Why not just attach a ring to the rim and dunk the ball through the ring(at 12 ft) and the hoop at 10 ft....

I like the way you think.

I wonder why no one else has come up with this idea? It's very original.

I know Dwight's people and will forward this idea to them. There may be some ASW tickets in it for you!

Didn't mean to step on your toes...

I know that sometimes they allowed props and other years(like Darrell Armstrong trying to wear Shaq's shoes...) they did not, and if you want to show off the leaping ability then that seems like a no-brainer...especially if you have 60 seconds to pull off the dunk.

I'm as much a fan as biting sarcasm as the next guy....but...hard to not feel like that's an attack....or like that's not a cock move.

In fairness...I neglected his post...which I acknowledged....but I didn't propose that I, myself, could build a contraption...I asked a question regarding the dunk contest rules for this year.

That'd be pretty damn sick and can be pulled off from the side of the hoop (so his body doesn't hit the 10-foot rim).

Need to find Dwight at his Chick-Fil-A and give him the suggestion. 8)
