There are 78 other games in the season.

not this interview, but the others where he was whining about not playing and wanting to grow out a beard and backpack through Europe... baby.

He's frustrated.

Any athletic competitor would be.

He's actually handled this situation in a first class way. Most others would have screamed loud and clear, before any series of interviews would take place.

I don't think Redick has "earned" the miscast label that you gave him.

IMO its a looser mentality to say that getting to the second round should be the goal or even a goal. Your not going to jump very high when you put such a low ceiling as the goal. Really even saying that is just implying were out in the second round and we should be happy with that as a successful season. Those that can live with that I guess fine. I however will feel disappointed with anything less than a trip to the Finals. Who cares we went out first round last year. Celtics didn't even make the playoffs and anything less than finals would be disappointment for them.

Why after a few years of Mr.Smith as the GM are we still acting like we don't know what goes on in his head. The biggest indicator of future behavior is past behavior. We have a few years of past experience with Otis that we should know exactly what kind of GM he is.

Look at the reality of the Magic starting 5 for most of the season. Hedo, Bogans, Nelson, Dwight, and Lewis. Will Otis make a move? Do we realize that 4 of the 5 starters on this roster were on this team before Otis became the official GM. Is there another GM in the league that can say that. Usually you become GM you make your mark. Otis becomes GM and he says I like my team. In essence he has done nothing as GM except make guys that were coming off the bench starters and hand Rashard Lewis 20m. Thats the summary of Otis as GM. He likes this team and his actions or lack there of shows it.

Now I'm sure there a change he will send something like Arroyo and JJ and see if he can get another PF. Fact is though the player coming back wont do much to impact there chances to beat a team like the Celtics or Pistons in the second round. One move for a truly impact player could put the Magic right in that class. Lets be real though. The East has been up for grabs for years and the Magic have sat back and watched like the 90s Bulls have been running things. Teams like the Cavs are going to the finals and we have been stuck on a 5 year plan talking about how much we like the team.

I think the stone reality about Otis is he still a former player that tries to act like a GM. Some people never truly take on a management mindset once promoted. You can promote a employee to manager and he never grasp that he now has to make decisions that are not popular with the other employees. Otis talks like a player that was in the belief when he played that all his team needed was time to play together and then they would be great. That it wasn't about talent but just experience. That players that don't succeed struggle more because of coaches or not being used correctly than not being good enough.

You can make your own decisions about Otis. IMO he is riding the improvement of Dwight and better coaching with SVG. The rest of this roster has been on a steady decline in talent. Thats just my opinion. One thing you probably shouldn't be wondering to much about is what Otis thinks of this team and how aggressive he is to make moves as we approach the deadline. The past has shown exactly what he is thinking there. Perhaps I will be shocked by an Otis this time around but I doubt it.

Well we have quite a few players that could get us a PF here and there, part of what bothers me about Otis is that these players with value won't have as much value if any come next season.

Hedo-Having career season, how much longer can he keep it up?
Arroyo-Having an ok season EXPIRING!
Dooling-Good player (player option)
JJ-Has SOME value wont last long
Mo-Some Value EXPIRING!

Trade someone soon who knows if by next season they will have any value, this particularly scares me with Hedo. His value is so high and I bet many teams would take him but who knows if by this time next season teams would be thinking the same thing.

If they are telling the truth then they will move Bogans before the trade deadline.

So....for those of you who think Otis should move Hedo because he will bring in the player who will put the Magic over the top.....what exactly is that deal that you think is out there that could make this happen?

The Magic need a big -- a powerful big who can rebound, hit the 12-foot jumper and play good defense. Who is offering that guy? I don't see anyone. I frankly don't believe HoopsWorld's little concoction and won't believe that Riley would make that deal with the Magic until the day I see Haslem in a Magic jersey. What NBA writers have picked up on that proposal on a national basis?

And if you move Hedo, you just are exchanging the players that help the Magic. You trade one player for one player. It doesn't necessarily improve the team. It just gives you a different player with different skills. Dude's got a $6 million contract. I see Seattle. . . maybe. . . moving Kurt Thomas, who might make the Magic better for one season and then his contract would be up and the Magic still would be without Hedo next season. In fact, I look at the league as a whole and don't really see many players who ARE AVAILABLE who are going to bring the Magic what they need.

AS insane as it sounds, I still think moving Hedo when he is playing his best is a good option. A good younger PF and a draft pick might suffice.

I truly believe that the Magic win almost as many games during the regular season with an agressive PF and Lewis playing his actual position as they do with hedo staying on board. The difference comes when the playoffs hit. We are going to get smoked without a good PF.

One could also say the backcourt sucks pretty bad too. But I get the feeling we have a better shot with another legit big body than searching for a PG right now.

All that being said, hedo is still an incredible talent and playing out of his mind. This is more a matter of long term fit and "buy low sell high". Who is this PF? I honestly have not had a whole lot of time this season to know enough....perhaps there is no good scenario.
"And with Dwight, he's Moses Malone at 22, Shaq at 22 and Tim Duncan.

i think Otis knows that one or more of his SGs will be gone by the trade deadline or this offseason and has intentions of keeping JJ around to fill that void afterwards, unless another deal comes along.

sucks for JJ if he's gotta wait till this offseason though....

as for trading Hedo, if the right package came along i could swallow it, but it'd be tough. as mfishy said, with a good PF and Lewis back at his natural position we'd still have the talent. being in that scenario would really highlight how weak our PGs are once Hedo's playmaking is gone though. however, the right package won't come along because right now Hedo's worth to us is as a 2nd best player on the 3rd best team in the East. that's a pretty fair scale for his value to us. doubt we'd ever get that back though. *crosses fingers and whispers "elton brand"*
