Off Topic Photo Software

Post#1 » by Shishnizzle » Mon Feb 18, 2008 8:28 pm

I see alot of you guy's working with video and pictures. I have a couple of questions. When you make video where do you get it? Do you get it from your own recorders or do you splice and make it, and how do you make it? How do you menipulate the pcitures the way you do? I just got windows Vista and they did'nt give me a great photoshop type of software. What is the best photshop type software for Vista, and are there any free ones that are good to download?

The best Photoshop type software is Photoshop itself, but there are plenty of free alternatives. Check download sites and such things.

Personally I'm on a Mac and I used Seahorse to create my sig. I know, the sig sucks, but still, it's serviceable.

Ok thanks. I downloaded the gimp spftware, but I really don't know squat about it. It has some tutorials, so I will have to spend some time learning how to use it. Thanks

It's similar to Photoshop - a lot of the functionality has been replicated.

Definitely could use something like this, I have a lot of untapped creativity.

God, I hate Gimp, but it's usable...it's no Adobe though.

Paint.NET http://www.getpaint.net/ is pretty good and a bit easier.

Yeh but I did'nt know how to use ohotshop. I just said that one cause I have heard of it. I reading the manul but it's pretty complicated. I don't get the jargon. I learn by example and watching. Once I see it done I don't forget. I need better instructions.

To each their own.

P.net is a good bit more sluggish on my system (a recent Dell Xeon workstation).

It's a step up from Paint but a step down from Gimp/PS.

Paint.Net is actually better than Photoshop in a few areas and filters but it's a lot rougher around the edges since it's free and lacks proper beta testing.

Anyway, it's good enough to make signatures, I don't know what the man himself (Thief) is using for his videos though, I guess it's Premiere.

I think he's using the software package called the Media Board.

I agree that gimp looks to have more options, but it's complicated to use, and thier tutorials are complex. I'm a novice so starting with paint.net is good for now. I think I need to buy one of those pencil mouses. I wonder how much photoshop costs.

My roomate just gave me a software package called micrografx graphics suite. Does anyone know what it's about? I hav'nt loaded it yet.

I just came across this online image editor, might want to check it out:

http://livethunder.com/imageeditor/

I won't vouch for it since I haven't used it, but it looks like something you might want to mess around with.
