Solid 9. Would've been an easy 10 if his dunk had any difficulty.

I kinda liked Moon's first dunk a lot, probably my favorite non-dwight dunk, closely followed by Green's behind the legs.
Behind the legs huh.......

My problems with it is that the birthday cake dunk didn't involve a birthday cake. It was a cupcake, I mean, it didn't even have any writing on it and it barely had sprinkles.
Haha, I must say I was a little disappointed personally that he didn't eat it afterwards.
I think people are a bit underselling the difficulty of finishing the dunk with authority and not having the cake fall off the rim. There are certainly plenty of guys who could pull off the same dunk, but there are so many things that could go wrong (candle doesn't go out, cupcake falls off rim, miss the dunk and splatter the cupcake everywhere), that I think the risk factor makes it worthy of a 10. If we're going to judge a dunk based on if other guys can do it, we might as well end the contest anoint Dwight the champion for the next 7 years, because physically Dwight is going to be capable of doing more than anyone else. While I'm sure that would make all of you guys happy, I'm not sure the fans would be too pleased

Plus, if Gerald had windmilled, he wouldn't be able to prove that he blew the candle out

Dwight's tap dunk was not better?
Dwight's bounce off the back of the backboard and with his head behind the backboard dunk was not better? (watch the replay - only his left arm/shoulder was in front of the backboard, the rest of his body was behind/underneath it)
Dwight's grab the ball off the prop and dunk it wasn't better?
I agree GG's was underrated, but imo you're waaaaaay overrating it.

I was going to reply that I thought the tap dunk and the behind the backboard dunk were much better, but the dunk off the mini hoop wasn't...
But it got me thinking, GG is getting props for doing something inventive, has anyone actually jumped without the ball, grabbed it off a prop and dunked it before? windmill no less?
GG is getting some props across the web for doing something no-one has ever seen before, well Dwight did that with his prop dunk too, and yet, it was still easily Dwights worst dunk.
Creativity isn't the be all, you gotta give it some flair as well and the cupcake dunk didn't really have it.

So based on this (which I agree) prop dunk > cupcake dunk.
But I think cupcake = 49. For me it was a lesser version of the kiss the rim dunk, due to how close he would have to get to blow it out.

Eh, thats like saying a picture drawn by a five year old and a Monet painting are on the same level. Dwight's may have been creative, but it certainly wasn't on the same level of creativity as the cupcake. Eh, I just really couldn't disagree with you more about basically everything you said...

And I'm not just some Gerald homer troll, I think Dwight deserved to win and I think he put on quite a show. I just don't think you're doing the cupcake justice here.

The way I see it, the cupcake dunk was inventive, and had to be done by blowing out the candle without knocking off the cupcake and not looking at the rim.
I was not impressed with the mini-hoop dunk, which I felt was not even harder than a lob, because the ball was stationary. The behind the backboard dunk we've seen before (even from Dwight right?), and didn't Iguodala do the tap dunk before? In any event, I thought the tap dunk was #2.
Could someone explain why the no-shoes dunk is getting so much discussion?
Lastly, the NBA should have allowed Dwight's request to dunk on a raised rim (which Green said he'd match). Yes it changes the NBA dimensions, but cupcakes are rarely on rims during regular games either.
