I have been huge on SVG always - before the season started - just listening to what he was saying. I think this thread was before the Detroit game - nice win, but that is not why it was started.

I saw the idiotic comments people were making about SVG - getting us to play the way we are without a PF is pretty impressive and players that have been weak on defense.

Don't include me in those guys who are jumping on the SVG bandwagon - I knew SVG would right the ship when the team went into that dive - he is just too good and he is working on our guys and it takes time, but the guy is brilliant.

That is just an ignorant statement - BHill was the worst coach to coach an NBA team maybe ever.

Another terrible coach - who is getting a reprieve this year - Doc Rivers - nicest guy, but a horrible coach. Boston will not get to the Eastern Conference finals - Detroit or Orlando will take them down.

Stan is a great coach and we are lucky to have him. LMAO at oak saying Brian Hill is a good coach.

I agree with you - Dwight has a ton of respect for Stan and he likes being pushed - the guy at ESPN is an idiot. SVG has earned the respect of his players.

One could also make a point that his freedom on offense leads to neglect of unguardable d12. also, don't a lot of people complain that guys take too many threes on the team, like whipping boys bogans and dooling?
also, im not sure how people could say a guy coaching IN THE NBA is bad coach. he must be doing something right, especially to have a 2nd chance with a team... That must make otis a bad gm for hiring him. if the magic go out in the first round again, what would be the difference between svg and hill?

Are you f'in kidding asking the difference between BHill and SVG - let me just say it this way - can you see the difference between Dwight Howard and Pat Garrity - and just because Pat Garrity is in the NBA doesn't mean he is good.

Seriously - the above is a fair comparison - you need some serious help - BHill maybe he is ok as an assistant - I could go on forever on the differences

One big one SVG takes responsibility for his actions
BHill blames everyone else and takes no responsibility for his actions

Tough to get respect when everyone else is an idiot except you - Brian's philosophy and you know what he was the only one who was truly wrong -his players just quit on him and the blowouts started mounting after the fast start with BHill.

BHill on a scale of 1 to 10 - a 2 at best
SVG on a scale of 1 to 10 - at least an 8, probably a 9 and possibly a 10, but there is always room for improvement

so pat garrity isn't a good basketball player?

so brian hill is a horrible coach, who coached in the nba finals and also been to the playoffs on other occasions? hill led the magic to their first playoff appearance, is that not noteworthy?
Hill followed up his record-setting season by leading the Magic to a 60-22 (.732) mark in 1995-96, a franchise record that still stands. He also led the Magic to their second consecutive Atlantic Division crown and guided the team to the Eastern Conference Finals, before losing to the eventual NBA Champion Chicago Bulls.

During his three-and-a-half seasons as head coach with the Magic, Hill

i wish people who put tons of stock in nba coaches being Godsents who have nba players on their teams... could be banned. I mean, they are coaching in the nba for a reason, no?obviously some are better than the others, like phil and pop, etc, but come on.

people were ready to run doc out, he gets players, he wins. Cheeks just got a contract extension, his players are starting to develop.

players make coaches, coaches are scapegoats for players.

A little slow on the uptake? ;-) This has been pointed out numerous times already in the past.

I'd imagine only 1 or 2 people were saying that and they were probably the same people that ate glue in kindergarten.

Fact of the matter is that Stan is the best coach for this team available since he was hired til now. Get him a true starting PG or a Big to put next to Dwight and Stan could be coach of the year. He was great down in Miami and Orlando is still in the thick of things this year. Stan is the man.

And he's not the only one......

I was for hiring Van Gundy all along. Having said that -- and I appreciate the things that Stan has done with the team this season -- but I'm starting to wonder if he really does want to coach this team. You can go on a rant now and then. But not every time they lose. He sounds like he doesn't like ANY of them. Maybe he's got his eye on another team and is secretly hoping if he goes off every time they lose, that he will get fired, get paid and go to a different team. Based on today's story in the Sentinel, except for Van Gundy's tirade, the locker room was VERY quiet after the loss to Toronto -- and not in a good way. Let's hope he doesn't sink the entire season.
