Knowing mags ... I'm sure he will.

Nah. Even I have my limitations. You can't argue with pure distilled stupidity.

First the majority of dictionaries are all wrong and weird and now Dwight gets the NBA Slam DUNK without the NBA's approval of his dunks really being dunks. All on the say so of a no name irrelevant anonymous forum poster.

The judges are on tape saying it was a dunk and a throw down after seeing the replay and the moronic argument continues. evidence doesn't matter to ignorance.

Actually, I find it ironic you are insulting people with lines like "pure distilled stupidity" and "moronic" and "ignorance," when you, yourself are presenting the classic logical fallacy, "Appeal to Authority"

Take the time to look that one up, but in the meantime, here's an example:

If Magic Johnson told you that a cow pie was an eskimo pie, does that MAKE it an eskimo pie, so you'd sit down and eat one?

I think you should tone back your insults when people have a different position than you maginmo, or else you might come off looking like a hypocrite.

I find it ironic but not surprising that you are trying to dispel those characterization by demonstrating an incredible inability at basic literacy. Your comrade in silliness claimed that in lieu of using the education of a good dictionary we should rely on a "governing body". I was merely pointing out that THE governing body was in fact in disagreement with both of your empty positions

However

While we are in the subject of logical fallacies time for a quick lesson. An appeal to authority as a logical fallacy applies to using the authority as a basis not the competence. You do see the difference . Thats why we can call an expert to a witness stand. Not because we are appealing to authority in a court but to expertise. So if basketball players who are experts in playing the game claim that it is a dunk their expertise on the subject (and you twos lack of it) is a piece of worthy evidence against your credibility.

Here endeth the lesson.

P.S. try not to take things too personally. You both came in with alot of bluster so don't be too hurt when you are shot down mercilessly with the facts.

You'll stop me. I've said all I need to say. Believe it or not I do try to stay on the merits of the argument rather than the person. To the extent that someone takes it personally I take responsibility for not making that clear or even veering off course in that regard when I get annoyed at stubborness. My apologies.

People can make moronic arguments without being morons. Usually theres an agenda that makes them not want to see the facts not a lack of mental capacity and despite what some might think I DEFINITELY do agree with that for those trying to take away from Dwight's dunk being a dunk.

So no I don't think anyone in this thread is a moron or stupid but I of course do believe the argument is and the facts support it.

I'm out pernanently. Won't even be reading this thread again.
