Undoubtedly this will help us, but I don't see it being the difference between being a contender and not.

I would rather us win our first championship towards the start of his tenure, wouldn't you?

I would rather us put the pieces together and then work out the chemistry sooner than later.

we have Fran who could pan out,

Do we? I'm hoping he does. But he still has to go through a learning curve even if he does come over. Certainly he's an asset we hope to use - either on court with us or to trade.

I'm positive, we're blessed to have Dwight. And I still feel we'll see a better Lewis sometime!

Certainly. I am in no way down about the team. Just like many, I feel we missed a big opportunity to make it even better.

I cant argue that it is not an upgrade, the point being is that this is going to be your 75 mil team with little to no flexibility in the future. Championship run? I think not.

PS you scenerio also assumes that we reup Gortat and Foyle decide to play here next year. If not you have two more bigs to replace. Good Luck with that.

I see no reason the team I posted can't make a title run. We will be improving the next few years as Boston and Detroit are regressing because of age.

Yes, but there's 29 other teams battling for that same goal and I don't see any possible deal that would've put us in the same sentence with the Celtics, Pistons, Lakers, Spurs, Mavs and Suns. The chemistry issue I agree with but I don't think there was such a great deal out there.. At least not screwing with the chemistry we have now..

Do we? I'm hoping he does. But he still has to go through a learning curve even if he does come over. Certainly he's an asset we hope to use - either on court with us or to trade.

Off course I know nothing more than you do, but looking at it from a glass half full perspective I'd say we still "own" him and he should be better than Augustine, Garrity, Gortat and maybe even Foyle.. And like you said, maybe he has some trade value if he commits to coming over..

Certainly. I am in no way down about the team. Just like many, I feel we missed a big opportunity to make it even better.

I know you're not, and being one of the best posters on this site I always like to read your posts. Once again, I'm not sure if that "big" opportunity was out there. Sure I would've loved to see Andre Miller, but Evans or Kurt Thomas for 2 expirings and 2 picks.. We're on the right path imo.

LOL.. I'm honored, you know more about Holland than I do! I kinda was hoping to get a red light district/drug reference too..

To get back on topic though, I think there's a 6 six year window now. The length of Dwight's contract. We'll go as far as he will take us. So we have 6 years to build a championship team, some luck is needed and some skill. With SVG as our coach he won't settle for mediocraty. I still think Nelson can do better than he is now, we have Fran who could pan out, getting Battie back will be huge.

Alot of people would've been very happy with the addition of Kurt Thomas. To get an idea, comparing to the Spurs deal, Garrity/Arroyo/1st would've done it. That's a very short term solution. Is thomas really that much of an upgrade over Battie?

Who knows how much it would help Lewis if he got his SF position back, with Battie and Dwight inside. Hedo could create alot of the bench for us. IMO that would be very good. That can happen.

Don't forget that there are always surprises in the NBA. Also Dwight will be able to attract some cheap veterans to get a ring in the near future, think Malone, Payton, Webber and so on..

I'm positive, we're blessed to have Dwight. And I still feel we'll see a better Lewis sometime!

I have a couple of issues with what you are saying here. First, we don't have six years, because in six years most of our team will be in their 30s awaiting retirement. Plus I don't know if we will be able to keep Hedo after his contract is up. Especially if we try to move him to the bench for Battie. Secondly, the thing you forget about signing veterans for cheap is that the veterans you listed were all over the hill, and the teams they joined had all won championships prior to the old guys showing up. I hope that isn't part of the plan to get us over the hump.

I can see what you're saying here. Maybe I should put the whole purpose of this thread in another perspective. The problem here is that in the NBA there is a lot of stuff that influences performances and changes. We don't know yet if Turk is going to be resigned, we don't know how he'll perform next year. Maybe He'll just be used as an expiring contract next year? Stuff like that you don't have control over. What seems like a given today can be something very different next year.

I agree maybe there was some way to improve ourselves with a trade of our expirings but we don't know for sure. People overreact and act like this was our last chance at improving. Saying stuff like we'll never get out of the first round, even while we have a very good chance to do so this season already! I'm just saying that new opportunities will be there every season.

Oh, thats how you spell that? I've never seen it written, just trying to sound it out. Your language is extremely difficult. I found that out when I was asking for directions to the Van Gogh museum, much different sound than we say it, lol. I appreciate the warm welcome though. I've been going there the last six years straight. I'm pretty comfortable with most things now. This time we have a new guy going. I'm going to take him down to Den Haag for the day and see the Escher museum, and he wants to go see the Rijksmuseum as well. There is about six of us that go, and one of them lives in Norway already. Happy Birthday in advance man, danka well.

One other note, I tried to showcase some of my German a few years back, not very smart on my part. How easily it is to forget your history when your in the moment, but the two languages sound so similar.
