Without looking it up right now I believe that it is 72+ mil this year expected to be maybe 74 mil next year. I cant recall whether the last amount set was for this season or for next as well.
All in all we will have 10 contracts this summer at 59 mil. A 5.5 mil MLE bringing us to 64.5 mil. Resign Dooling at 4 mil brings us to 68.5 mil Resign Evans at 4 mil that takes us to 72.5 mil and we have two roster spots to fill with vet mins of 1.5 mil each bringing us to a grand total of 75.5 mil. This assumes that we dont have to replace Foyle (player option) and Gortat (team option).

2005-06; $61.7 million; Knicks ($37.2), Mavs ($17.3), Magic ($7.8 ), Pacers ($4.7), Grizzlies ($3.7), Spurs ($0.9)
2006-07; $65.42 million; Knicks ($45.1), Mavs ($7.2), Nuggets ($2.0), T-Wolves ($1.0), Spurs ($0.2)
2007-08; $67.865 million
* For 2005-06 they used a set amount of $61.7 million rather than applying the formula. Had the formula been used, the tax level would have been approximately $63.7 million.

If Fran comes over (11th pick scale based on 05-06):
1st year: 1,495.2
2nd year: 1,607.3
3rd year: 1,719.5
4th year: 32.7% 4th Year Option: Percentage Increase Over 3rd Year Salary)
5th year: 36.9% 5th Year Option: Percentage Increase Over 4th Year Salary)

it would appear, at least based on what you read, that Nellie is fed up with Harrington, and typically, what Nellie says goes...- Nelson said after their loss to to Atlanta...Whatever momentum we had, [Harrington] always seemed to be there to miss a shot or make a turnover or a foul or something

and shockingly enough, apparently that whole Chris Webber thing really aint working out...i'm totally shocked...
Maybe we could trade some of our expiring contracts and another piece - oppps, my bad Otis hung onto them.

Harrington is definitely not well liked by Nelson
There was a rumor of Warriors trading Harrington, Pietrus & O'Bryant to Bulls for Ben Wallace. Warriors would then have used part of their $10 million Trade Exception (from J-Rich trade) to take another Bull to complete the trade.
HOWEVER - the trade fell through. Was it because Paxson found a better deal with Cleveland? Was it because Warriors figured Ben wasnt worth his future salary? I dont know - but that trade was definitely discussed & Nelson alluded to it during an interview at the Bulls game in February (but didnt name names)

I recall there is a CBA line that allows the Magic to sign Fran for more than the above. Any updates on that point?

My understanding is that if/when he comes over, as a lottery pick, he gets the rookie scale based on the first year he plays.

Which would make sense - a disincentive for players from sitting out/playing overseas to get more money if/when they make it to the NBA.

What we pay him and what cap hold he has are two different things. I recall something that may increase the cap hold. I guess it may be an incemtive for teams not to squirel players away overseas and then bring them in for cheap? IDK
