What exactly makes DHoward such a bad FT shooter?

Yeah, but Wallace and Shaq have horrible form and I would imagine spend little to no time practicing FT's at this stage of their careers. Dwight's form is much better than either of these two...he just needs to work on muscle memory through repetition. Pray for Karl Malone type results, but I think we'd all be happy with 70%.

Howard's form has improved a lot this year.

His release is better, but is still often times hindered by his left hand, as it sometimes sits too high on the ball.

A too high left hand can choke the release and can disrupt the leg engine on any shot.

To fix this, Howard needs to practice and start his shot mechanics with his left hand underneath the ball. The left hand will rotate up on the ball as the shot mechanics are initiated.

Not an easy fix from a habitual standpoint.

I strongly disagree.

Howard's problems lie with how Bigs approach foul shots. Not the shot itself.

I have read that O'neal in practice has nailed >50 in a row. Yet, he's a 50% shooter in game. The problem, and its corrections are not resolved with practice alone.

Perfect practice makes perfect.

No other way around it.

You need more touch to shoot underhand than overhand, so I can't see how the granny shot would be a more consistent method.

I still love when Charlotte hacked-a-dwight and he made like 8 in a row.

You will never see more greatness than late 3rd quarter hacking of Dwight and Dan Gadzuric. The last 2 minutes of that 3rd quarter in Milwaukee lasted at least 15 minutes.

I really think Dwight should bank it . I know that it's kinda ugly but I think it would really help him . It allows for a little error . If he goes a little strong it still goes in . If he doesn't go strong enough it still goes in .

Really he needs more than Patric Ewing working on his shot. He needs a fulltime shooting coach. I don't understand why he doesn't have one.
