Another good point! And it brings up a question I've been meaning to ask someone with more knowledge of the CBA then I:
Won't we also have expiring contracts that we could use to move up or facillitate a trade possibly with drat picks (like the Ray allen trade) if we are not intent on resigning those players?
Who do you think we should pick in the draft vs. actual pick

I see your point, but remember the Lake show got Gasol for Kwame, therefore crazier things have happened in the NBA...
That was an insider deal. It only happened because Jerry West used to be general manager for both franchises and remains friends with the owners of both franchises.

No f*cking way we take an SF, especially Budinger, Christ. We won't leave Thabeet, CDR AND Chalmers on the board over that guy.

If you are refering to Garrity, Arroyo, Dooling...they won't be expirings because they become free agents once the season is over. So, no, we can't do that.

C'mon....how many small forwards does he think the Magic need? They're not the Atlanta Hawks.
While I am no big fan of the realgm mock draft, I would love Budinger here. He is a SG, not a SF. At 6'7'' he can shoot the three, is very athletic, and is a solid defender. All traits we need in a SG. Budinger will prolly be gone in the teens, if he is there we have to take him.

Not on draft night anyway. Once free agency starts, if some team wanted to sign one of those guys but didn't have enough cap room and wanted to use its MLE on someone else and it had someone the Magic wanted to acquire and the Magic didn't want that guy, a sign-and-trade could be worked out because the Magic own their Bird rights. That's a lot of ifs, but the NBA is a wild league. Sometimes it takes the most complex deals to work something out, and other times, they are easy.
