Dwight ain't in his prime...

Post#1 » by TheGlyde » Wed Apr 16, 2008 2:05 am

From the wiretap

http://www.globesports.com/servlet/stor ... wspthowa15

A bystander posed a question. Who would win this one-on-one matchup?

The Hall of Fame former Knick, in his prime, or Howard, the 22-year-old who today leads the league in rebounds and double-doubles?

"I ain't in my prime yet," Howard answered, swiftly ending the argument.

For the rest of the NBA, that's downright scary.

Tonight Dwight became the youngest in NBA history to 4000 rebs, and if he shoots 5-5 from the field tomorrow night, he would become just the 5th in NBA history to average 20/10 and shoot 60% from the field.

Prime is scary. Better passer, better free throw shooter, better defender, etc. He'll be crazy good.

You gatta figure he will get better in AT LEAST these areas:

Free Thows
Man to man defense
Help defense
Passing

And just through playing his post game will evolve more.

If he can get to 65-70% from the FT line & improve his post game a little more...that will get him to the 25-30 PPG range.

Barring injury...that is all pretty much a given.

i'd say Dwight will be in his prime at 25-26, and yea it is scary how good he could get.

We'll see what happens.

Generally, an NBA player's best year is around 29 years old. The prime-window is from 25-32 years old.

I'm looking for Dwight to be in his prime somewhere around age 27-28 years old, but I am truly disappointed in the fact that Dwight still thinks ain't is a word.

Dwight learning to box out would help too.

Soulja Boy will do that to ya.

And Dwight is raw, will become better and better, his game is slowly but surely evolving, he's passing better out of double teams, his FT's are better. If only he can gain a jumpshot or some post-up moves, he'll be unstoppable.

"Ain't" ain't a word????? Check your dictionary! I know I was once told that you ain't supposed to say ain't, but there is no other contraction for "am not," so it's a useful word.

When Dwight is able to focus mentally the way he does physically (training, workout, practice, etc...) he'll be in his prime.

Until then he isn't in his prime.

Interesting thought Magicmamma, but the word "ain't" is way too Hillbilly Jim for a guy like Dwight Howard. I don't want Dwight to turn into a yocal.
