My First Movie....

Post#1 » by Max Power » Fri Apr 18, 2008 10:01 pm

Hey guys, I know I've dropped some movie trailers in here before and you guys have been awesome as far as responding. This is the first real movie I've made, a 4 minute short about a depressed ninja. It's a comedy. I'm interested in what you guys all here think. Here's the link:

Do you want an honest opinion?

It wasn't horrible...just very corny.

I like the girl.

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

The girl at the end? Yeah, I hear that a lot. So I'm guessing that's all you liked??

Well I for one thought it was very enjoyable. I thought it was very creative and while I didn't laugh out loud, i was amused by it. If that idea was done by grade a actors in a grade a studio, it could be a hit. Not trying to offend anyone in the video, but you get what I mean. And the girl at the end was awesome. Keep up the good work!

Funny concept and some nice editing. I remember some of your trailers and it seems like editing is certainly your strong suit. I'm sure I don't need to tell you the acting was a little over the top, but this was not exactly supposed to be The Godfather. My biggest critique would be that the cinematography was pretty bland. Don't be afraid to move the camera some, do some interesting stuff with angles and camera movements.

All in all I liked it, I would have liked to see a little more meat to it as it seemed very streamlined. Good concept though. Keep working at it.

Thanks for the info Cammo, Franchise. I agree with all the critiques so far, my strong suit is indeed the editing, I had to use two different DP's for lighting, which was obviously a weakness. As far as the acting though, it was exactly what it was supposed to be, and that was over the top overacting. Dangerbob, the guy who played Ninja, the old lady and the sleazy guy is a pro and has worked in several films. I'll make sure the female lead knows she did a good job. But sorry gents she's unavailable :(

The Wii Connect 24 light was on. That was my favorite part.

Was Keyon not available to play the Ninja!?
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Nah, Keyon's agent was playing hardball FF. Aparantly the ninja likes to get paid when asked to act in film.

Funny stuff, too bad Ninja jokes on the internet are getting really old. I liked the ninja eyes expressions a lot though, and the script's pretty good, especially the TV announcer/mafioso's lines.
