I would if I could get some experience in the field (I have been trying to find something in this city for months without any luck)... its sad that this was my first post. I am a LONG time lurker and just moved back to the city beautiful six months ago after graduating from USF.
Hopefully my future posts can be a bit more cheerful

I've done a few for different clients of varying size.
I mention here pretty often (whenever a mod gets POed at me), that I admin a forum (I do not actively participate in the forum) that is larger than this forum; and I set up that forum from stage 1.
Running websites or working with databases isn't a passion of mine by any means. I'm finally getting my foot in the door of areas I really like (security). Love to elaborate, but they'd have me killed

You made a noteworthy remark earlier about it being black magic (your story was interesting, btw, lol) and I think clearly that it is.
I recently had a talk with a peer about "why isn't all of this information just in some book", they were advocating everything about a DBA should be embedded in some book; I was advocating for whatever reason, experience largely dictates what makes a good DBA. Certain trends are embedded to books, but past knowledge is probably what dictates a lot of decisions as well.
I don't think I fully grasp why yet since I haven't been in the game all that long, but it is very apparent that older DBA's are lightyears ahead of me even if I know more theory than they do. Being a DBA has to be one of the more "black magic" areas of CS -- which is why it's not a passion of mine, I guess security isn't very clear cut either, but at least that's fun.

Cool. Maybe if an OT topic pops up in the future we can skate around the subject easier.
I'd at least apply, ctorres. Even if you weren't to get that job, if they're continually seeing your name come up in job openings, they'll know you really want to work for them.

I actually got my Bachelors in Information System Security. It is an outstanding area of work that is incredibly hard to crack. (I haven't made my way into it yet.) My second job out of college was more software support for an application that uses SQL 2000/2005 and currently I am a puny Tier 2. It doesn't sound like much but the benefits are great.
I'd like to find a way to increase my value at my current job. This job is definitely something I would be interested in if I had more Marketing experience. (Which is another field I am interested in.)
