Well one game means nothing... neither does one posters opinion of a ranked list of NBA teams... they have this thing they do to establish what teams are better than the others, its called the NBA playoffs.

Defense wins championships. Detroit is better defensively than 3 of those teams. They also have the second best record in the league.

However they are getting older and slower so their time is just about up.

I wanna face Detroit. If we want to be the best, we have to beat the best.

Philly is not going to beat Detroit 2 games in a row -- the best we can hope for is that Philly forces a tough game 7 to wear out the Pistons a bit more :D

I expect us to face the Pistons, and lose, and I'm okay with that, we're past the first round which is a new highmark for this team, so everything else this year is just experience for next year.

Occasionally you'll see a team jump from the 1st round and the following year go on a long run like we did back in the 90s, but its very rare, people expecting the same thing this year may be disappointed (hopefully not though).

Agreed, Pistons are the reason Dwight and Jameer are so hungry and focused this year. they really think they can beat the Pistons and many people here do too which is fine with me. Our average is 104ppg. The thing is are we going to average the same ppgs against them? Without a doubt we are rested and they have played their butts off which could be key. But their defence is just too good.

Problems I see are the match up issues. Billups is 4" taller than Jameer, we dont have any big body to slow their front court. The only way to win is to run them like crazy which we are capable of and out scoring them.

Either way win or lose I want the Pistons.

I still disagree with this "Either way win or lose I want the Pistons." mentality that yourself and others are expressing. Experience is key to making long playoff runs, but making long playoff runs is also just as important...

I think its a bit extreme to assume the Magic are going to be that much better next time they're in the postseason, just because they played and lost to the Pistons in the second round, as opposed to playing an easier team in the second round, advancing, then playing a tougher team in the third round. Or fourth round (Finals).

I think too many people are getting hung up on the fact that the Magic won their first playoff series since the mid-90s. F that, keep going! And if they don't, we'll applaud them for their accomplishments this season. But you have to keep in mind that just because the Magic made it out of the first round this year, doesn't necessarily mean this type of success will be there in the years to come. Remember the last time the Magic got out of the first round - 12 years ago? They made it all the way to the ECF, before losing. Who would have known it would take all this time before they won 50 games again, let alone 45? Or won their division? The Magic are in a POSSIBLE position to make a deep playoff run, but as a #3 seed, you usually need a break or two along the way to make it happen.

Right now, I'm not thinking about the future. I'm thinking about the present, about this season's team in the playoffs attempting to win a championship. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Along the way, they're gaining valuable experience whether they face the Pistons or not. What about facing the Celtics?

(Most likely we're facing the Pistons, but the preceding was for argument's sake.)

There are too many variables for next season. Allot of surprise and non-surprise teams. We could just as easily fall out of the playoffs based on current standings.

I agree with the win it now mentality. Experience is one thing but Hedo and Lewis are each 29/28 years old. With our cap sittuation and the current state of the NBA this is our best time to make a run. Heat and Bulls I expect will bounce back. Larry Brown is taking a crack at the Bobcats, Hawks are starting to realize they got depth and talent. Our Division could be the best in our conference next year.

It looks like Detroit finally woke up after being down at the half in game 4. They were well on the way to being down 3-1, and instead came out and dominated, ultimately winning that game and the next. They look different now than they did to start the series.

Pistons are a team that tries to stroll through everything. The perfect example was against the Cavs. They beat the Magic easily, and Bulls easily, than when they played the Cavs. They won 2, and thought they could stroll through the rest of the series and then pick it up in the championship. But lost the next 4.

MM, I see what you're saying, I'm not saying I don't want to face Philly, I just feel if we can't beat the Pistons (or the Sixers, or whoever), then we have no business being in the ECF anyway, so whoever we play is irrelevant to me, whoever it is, we just need to get the job done or go home...

If we get an 'apparent' easy road, so be it, but I'm by no means pulling for one or hoping for one because if we can't beat the best team to come out of the Pistons/Sixers series then as I said, we don't deserve to progress.

Basically I consider whoever wins in a 7 game series to be playing the better ball at this time of year, so if thats the Sixers then bring them on as well.

Having said all that, im 99% sure we will be facing the Pistons.

Well considering that if the Pistons win tonight we will play again Saturday, I say go Pistons. I'm tired of waiting already, and that will be a hell of a series. If Philly wins, than alls the better.
