I have been to games in both the Staples Center and the Target Center, and I can easily say the ORena (I refuse to call it the TD Amway Centre) (And another thing, why was it called centre? Are we European now? Why not Center?!) is pretty crummy. You can tell it's a lower class venue. Staples is ridiculous, inside and out. Great architecture, wide open concourses, they even have a club (figures, it is LA). The coolest thing about the Staples Center is the scope of being in the arena. It is huge! and seeing all those people focusing on this tiny court is pretty amazing. On the other hand, Target Center is kind of daunting. It is built up rather than out, which makes walking to the nosebleeds a terrifying experience. The stairs are very steep, and sitting in the upperbowl, you feel like you are perched on the edge of a cliff. Nonetheless, you can tell it is a different atmosphere than anything you can experience elsewhere in the world. A sold out REAL sporting arena is a very unique sensation, and one I look forward to experiencing in Orlando soon.

Thing about Amway is that it has no mid-level ANYTHING. You have upper bowl and lower bowl emptying into the same tightly-packed concourse. I find it ironic that in the past, the Magic have lambasted fans for not showing up, but when there actually is a sellout, it's a miserable experience as soon as you leave your seat.

I actually have never heard the Magic themselves lambast anyone for not going to games in person. They call for people to come out to support the players, of course, but I've never heard them criticize people for it.

I have to say, though, that I was glad to hear what Stan said in his news conference after the Magic wrapped up the Raptors series. The part about how his guys play so hard and how if you don't like watching this team (as in this particular group of players) play, then you don't like basketball. And that you might just be looking to jump on bandwagons. Just as an aside, he didn't say that you had to be at the building in person....just like the team. It sounds to me like he's listened to some radio callers and read what some people have had to say online and was blowing off some frustration.
