if Hedo goes then we need his SG equivalent. someone who can pass, defend, score inside and out and rebound. how many players do you know that fill that criteria, and how many teams do you know that would be willing to give that player up for Hedo, and how much more would that player's salary cost?

beyond that, why does anyone think that Battie in the lineup makes us that much better??? Lewis did well enough in that position this season. if anything, we should keep the lineup as it is and trial a Howard/Battie/Lewis/SG/Nelson lineup to see how expendable Hedo really is. because there's no point giving up the man who's running this team JUST so we can slot a prototypical PF in the lineup.

i think a lineup of:

Nelson/FA/Dooling
(FA or Trade)/Mogans/Dooling
Turk/Lewis
Lewis/Battie/Gortat/Cook/Draft
Howard/Battie/

with the likes of: Childress/Duhon/Maggette/ filling the FA spots.

the likes of: JJ/Cook/Mogans/draft pick being dangled as trade bait.

I bet SVG can make him into a good defender like he did with Rashard too. The Bucks were a pretty good team not too long ago, Redd just needs better players around him. If you think we're a good offensive team now, imagine with Redd. He would definitely put us over the top and make us by far the best in the league. The Redd of last season and the season before that was amazing. His defense SVG can work on. I heard when he first came into the league it was for defensive purposes anyways. He has it in him.

but if no redd its possibly

PG Jameer Nelson
SG Hedo Turkoglu
SF Rashard Lewis
PF Tony Battie
C Dwight Howard

imagine what a 6'10 sg who can handle the ball would do

You know, that depends who is on your bench. The Magic's bench right now is killing them on a lot of nights.

The only reason that I wonder if Rashard will stay at the PF spot is Van Gundy keeps pointing out that he is playing out of position. If he intended to keep him there, I don't know if he would be doing that.

It looks as if the Magic are going to look at both power forwards and shooting guards in the draft. Maybe what they do moving forward will depend upon which position they fill.

Redd is a good shooter. But it seems like the Magic prefer players who are capable of playing more than one spot and doing several things well. It gives SVG more flexibility of different matchups if one thing isn't working or someone is hurt. I don't know if Redd fits into that category.

No way I would do it. I don't consider Hedo untouchable, despite how excellent he has been this season, but to move him I would want more than a ball-stopping 2-guard scorer. Orlando's requirement in the backcourt, if they push forward with Jameer as point guard, are a shooting guard who can play true lockdown D, rebound, and play supplementary defense. Add to that, if they move Hedo, they put the onus completely on Jameer and whoever is backing him up next year to dominate the ball handling and offense facilitation - so unless they get a player in return who can create for others, they are negatively affecting the PG position, as well.

Redd does not fit the bill of defender, rebounder or creator. He's a scorer, and Orlando's offense is ok as things stand.

I would say try and fill the SG problem by going after Josh Childress with the MLE. He's big, he's a terrific defender, very good rebounder and solid scorer.

Childress looks better and better as a fit for the Magic. He did good against Boston, plays with a flare, kind of like Ariza, and has a better shot this Ariza. With Atlanta strapped to two max players already and teams like Philly waiting to pounce on Smith, they might not have the assets to keep Childress if we offer the full MLE.
