Come on, our PG is a huge issue. Look at Dwight's FGA in the series vs DET: 8, 12, 13, 11, 11.

Some comparable big men:

KG: 19, 13, 13, 9, 22 (Cavs)
Duncan: 18, 13, 13, 11, 9 (Hornets) 28, 18, 15, 20, 24 (Phoenix)
Amare: 14, 11, 23, 25, 26 (Spurs)
Bosh: 19, 26, 14, 19, 11 (Magic)

Does anyone else see a problem? Get the ball to DWIGHT.

Childress is a very frustrating player. You talk to Hawk fans and its love hate about him. They hate his defense. He constantly is cherry picking. He a good offensive rebounder for his position but he doesn't defensive rebound because he trying to cherry pick. He definetely better than what we have. I dont see Atlanta letting him go for just a MLE offer.

Maggette would be a good pickup. I'm not sure were in need of another high paid offensive player. I don't see Evans and Redick getting you Maggette.

I'm not a big fan of Pietrus. He isn't a starting level SG. Dang I'm not even sure he is better than Maurice Evans. Evans was more productive in Orlando than Pietrus in GS.

Childress or Maggette would be a HUGE upgrade at the SG slot. And one of them might be obtainable. Yes both have warts.

Also, Maggette has a very good EFF at 19, Childress is around 14.5. If we want to compare these guys, stats say go with Maggette. In particular, Maggette is much better at drawing contact, and he can hit the FTs at a good clip.

No, what did he say at the deadline that ended up happening?

Because if he said some stuff that didn't happen, there is no guarantee that it wasn't just an unsubstantiated rumor.

I've seen Denton get fooled before. How about that time he reported that Tracy and Shaq were going to sign with the Mavs?

I agree with you on Pietrus.

Neither Maggette nor Pietrus are particularly creative free-agent suggestions either. Their names have been floating around here for two years. Kind of like last spring and summer when so many people were absolutely positive that the Magic were going to sign Vince Carter. Whether that's because the Magic want them or it makes sense to the writer so he just keeps repeating it remains to be seen.

Childress finished this season strong, but he has kind of floated in and out of games before that. However, I think it's possible that Atlanta might let him go for the MLE or just a little more. They already are paying Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby max money. (The trade for Bibby changed their position cap-wise significantly for next season.) If they want to keep Josh Smith, they are going to have to pay him first. I think someone will pay Smith a really fat deal. They might not want to go big money on Childress on top of all that.

Bibby contract is expiring though. Atlanta will have some financial decisions to make. Childress getting paid the average NBA player salary I think they can handle. The only way that chances I would say is if someone gives Josh Smith near max money. There are rumors that Phili may do something like that.

ESPNXM mentioned today that the Mavs are probably going to look into pushing for Josh Smith very hard this off season...Carlisle apparently loves him because of his work ethic and defense...

Fran IMO would have trouble at NBA level. Maybe he would be a 15-20 min guy after couple of seasons under his belt, but likely not.

Having him start at PF would be distaster.

possibly...

Joe Johnson/Josh Howard is a nice tandem at the 2 and 3, they get a real 5 and move Horford down to the 4, Billy and Law at the 1, they'd be pretty wicked...

If Foyle opts out, Vazquez would be the third string combo-big. No more, no less.

I remember hearing that Fran had some ridiculous number of blocks in a game. But I also recall reading somewhere that there is no goaltending in international play. Is this true?

i can guarantee you that this is not accurate, the only rule that is different is the "over the cylinder" rule, once the ball touches iron a player can grab the ball and take it down or block it out, as long as it has not gone into the cylinder...

So if a player shoots the ball, it hits rim and goes straight up, you can jump up and hit it, even if it is directly above the basket?

And does that count as a block?

if you swat it from over the cylinder it's a block and if you snatch it it's a board...
