Who needs Troy Murphy when you have Patrick Joseph Garrity?

i don't agree with Murphy's contract, but he'd fit the team well. his defense aint the best, but he grabs boards, which is far more than you can say for any player on our team not named Dwight Howard. plus his game stretches to the 3pt line on offense. that would make Cook redundant..... if Cook didn't come at a third of the price :D

the next PF i would like to see added to the team should be Tony Battie x10.

I've always liked Murphy, but his contract is just so terrible like you noted.

Still, he's fallen in love with the 3pt shot more and more, he seems to be losing his bruiser mentality.

The day when TM can play SG and PF AND average 18 + 10 from both positions is the day i'll consider him the last piece.

Troy Murphy the last piece? Honestly he'd be close, and unlike others I don't think his contract is so bad considering his productivity. He would actually be the missing piece if I could be sure that Hedo would be as productive at the 2 as he is at the 3. A lineup of Nelson/Hedo/Lewis/Murphy/Howard is pretty darn good actually, and if things stayed the same production wise we would be close to a 60 win team. Also, if Lewis gets back to his former production (he had a slight dip this year playing the 4) and Hedo stays the same, and then if Nelson's play carries over from the playoffs we are a serious threat to have the best record in the NBA next year.

I pretty much agree. I think people are underestimating Murphy. He would be a damn good fit for our team, because he can hit the outside shot to spread the floor, is an offensive threat, and he can crash the boards. The only problem is his contract. It depends what we'd have to give up. I probably wouldn't do a trade to get him though, because he would handcuff our cap even more even though I feel like he'd be a perfect fit at PF. I agree that with him we would improve probably about 5 wins or so, but I don't see that unit winning a championship and depending on what we give up, we wouldn't really have any roster flexibility at all with Dwight, Shard, Murphy, Turk's inevitable contract, and Jameer.

Sure, his skill set would fit our team, but he's not near the upgrade at the position that I think we need. I think he's highly over rated and his contract proves that. I just never was a fan of his going all the way back to Notre Dame. As you said, Cook comes at a third of the price, and its easier to find others that would do just as well as him at a reduced cost. I agree with others that a guy like Wilcox would be much much better for this team, and I'm still hoping that we end up with something better than him too. Fortunately there is a slew of guys in this years draft that very well could be our answer long term there. There is a lot of bruisers in this draft. Troy has the shooting touch, but he's on the soft side imo. I want a Maxiel type of player instead.

I like Foster but I don't know if I'd give up 23 for him. Also Battie isnt that bad of a player, I'd rather give either or Arroyo/Dooling or JJ or something but you'd probably decline too

Well, I just thought Battie might be a good fit because he played pretty well several seasons back with Jim O'Brien and the Celts (now coach of the Pacers).

Brian Cook+Adonal Foyle+#23 for Jeff Foster?

Guys, we have pick number 22. Pick 23 belongs to the Utah Jazz.

I don't quite get the consistent love for Troy Murphy. His talent to contract ratio is worse than Garrity's was a couple years ago.
