The Magic draft trade: Darnell Jackson for Mr Man

So, now the Stan-the-Man trade is finished.

The Magic traded what ended up being the selection of Darnell Jackson for a Major-and-Massive Head-coaching upgrade in Stan van Gundy. Whilst I wish Jackson the best of NBA success, an undersized, un-athletic, slow, and non-great-defensive PF was not likely to make the Magic roster.

That the Magic won this trade is furthered by the fact that Miami has already traded the guy.

drsd,

I am with you.

What hppened last year sucked especially since the Magic would have been able to grab Chris Richard at #38 last year.

This year Heat had option to swap first-round picks and if they declined, would get the Magic's second round pick which they did.

The Magic did win this deal though and the pain from not having those seconds to salivate over.

Next year, the Magic will not have their own second if it is 56-60 as a result of the Lewis deal. If the pick is not in that range, the debt is settled. The pick would go to Phoenix as Seattle dealt it to them.
