he has a lot of things going for him, if he can put it all together like he has been doing and get the minutes, he absolutely has a chance...he's very, very strong, very long, very determined, good leaper, shotblocker, rebounder, and he has the ability to be a very good defensive player in the post...while he has a decent jump shot and he can put down dunks and hes able to get a lot of put backs, his offensive game has a longer way to go than his other areas...

the reason he got the chance to play last season is that Otis and Dave saw how far he had come and how absolutely determined he was to dominate everyone on the court, that's why they brought him over so the SL last year and let him work with Dwight.

Cool. You've officially converted me into a Gortat believer.

If you had to compare him to a player, who would you say?

I see him almost as a white Dalembert...

I'd say more of a Matt Geiger type, possibly better rebounding, at least I would think so after watching him, and definitely better shot blocking...offensive game pretty similar, anything over about 9ppg is all gravy...

Geiger?! Man, that was random. Alright, I'll take it.

I remember when Geiger played for the Sixers against Shaq. I was pretty certain his role was to take out Shaq's knees.

well you have to watch their game styles, both play it very similarly, slight differences mainly that Gortat is more gifted athletically and he's faster.

In terms of comparisons both 2nd round picks, both have enormous size, Geiger was 7'1 I believe? Gortat is 7', Geiger had a large frame, not extremely cut, but VERY muscular, Gortat having a large frame is both cut and muscular. Both play the box out style very strong, which is a classic attribute to have. Both are inclined to hustle for rebounds, follow the ball instead of the man and both are not afraid of anything. Both guys will block shots, Geiger because of his weight was never able to harness what he had in the tank previously, but Gortat is fully capable right now of swatting shots at a high rate. Both have a similar offensive style, dunks, put backs and the occasional step out straight on jumper, both with high FT% and both will commit a few fouls...

in order to see big production from Gortat though, he's going to need bigger minutes, 10-15 for sure...

Plus, if Gortat ever sports a goatee, he will be a dead ringer for Ming the Merciless, just like Geiger.

One thing I love about Marcin is the speed at which he get's up and down the floor. The guy is unbelievably fast for someone who goes 7'0, 240lb.

I def think that Gortat is the better athlete over Auggie. He can move, he can run veryyyyyyyyyyyy well and he moves well laterally. He is very mobile for his size and is obviously very determined and unafraid. He gave Dwight that big bump on his lip in practice and he gave Rasheed Wallace fits on both ends of the court in the playoffs. He is one determined guy, its hard to not like the dude.

Augustine is a practice squad guy. He should be lucky to have an NBA contract.

I really like Gortat, but I'm telling you, but in terms of actual athleticism, Auggie takes it...
