Why is he a bad coach?

Let me put it to you this way. There are strong rumors that when Channing Frye first started practicing with the Magic, he couldn't believe the lackadaisical approach to coaching, especially when it came to defense. Players didn't even know their assignments half the time. I believe the rumor was that he vocalized his concerns with his cousin, Tobias Harris, and it spread and the team lost all faith in Vaughn (if there was any left).

I defended Vaughn for a while, had high hopes that the first two seasons were part of the plan. But last season was supposed to be the turn around. And there's no denying Orlando has some very talented players. But Vaughn couldn't even get them on track for 30 wins.

Vaughn probably needs another stint as an assistant under a different head coach than Popovich. Worth noting that the Spurs loved him when he was an assistant and Popovich was known to say he was a huge part of their success while he was there. Maybe Vaughn will do better with his next stint as HC, but I hope for his own sake it's not for another 4-5 years.

Hey that's cool info. I never knew this. Gosh, if Channing Frye is complaining about the lack of defensive emphasis, you KNOW something is wrong.
