Watched Elf @ Orlando Rec

Post#1 » by davey_wavy » Sat Sep 5, 2015 7:54 pm

Open Gym (well, invite only) so my bud was able to get me in to spectate. Elf was bigger than I expected, I'm 6'3 and I felt short next to him. He played well, but good ol Jay Will was lighting him up!! Same with Austin Rivers, he looked very impressive. Darius Washington was bullying ELF at times, not sure how hard Elf was really going. Tony Douglas was out there, Courtney Lee (whos also surprisingly bigger than expected) has extreme athleticism.. Some other local guys were out there, but I can't stop thinking bout how good Jay Will looked. Id freaking sign the guy as our 3rd Pg!! I know it was just open gym, but things got intense at certain times and the true competitiveness started to creep out. Good times, I think there's a clip on YouTube if you want to watch it

That's cool but I think alot of those guys are in cruise control. Some probably take it more serious than others. If he wanted Elf would probably demolish him if he really wanted to.

Starting PG on an NBA team playin ball with bench players. That's all you need to know to get an idea of how hard Elf was going.

Starting PGs play within a system that best suits them and their skill set. When it's every man for themselves, there's no protection

- nah I just meant Elf has much 'more to lose'/is a much more valuable asset, and thus has to operate on a much higher level of caution/control/concern for safety than the others...even if it's not his own choice and he wants to go 100%, I'm sure he's got others telling him he needs to keep himself from going hard in such pick-up games/scrimmages/etc.

elf is not the type of player who plays with as much flash as a streetballer. thats as much as you need to know, imo.
