OT: Places to eat around Orlando

The amount of chains being suggested tells you all you need to know about food in Orlando. It has gotten A LOT better in the last few years but there is still a lot of nothing out there. Thanks Disney.

The infusion of new restaurants and expansion of the food scene in Orlando has been great the last five years. Unfortunately it used to be so poor it's just now getting to decent, and there are large areas of city with nothing but chains still. Especially South Orlando.

Well since everyone seems to be posting a list here is mine

Pizza: Anthony's Pizza- I believe that they have 4 locations around town that I know of.

Chinese: Chin Hua- Seriously some of the best Chinese food that I've had.

Burger: Johnny's Fillin Station and Burger Fi- To me this are two of the best places to get a burger at. Really delicious.

BBQ: Pig Floyds Urban Barbakoa- Orginally I would have picked 4 Rivers but once I tasted their brisket sandwich it wasn't even a debate.

Cuban: Cubans On The Run- Great Cuban sandwiches that they serve up here. Another good sandwich is the steak sandwich here. Also the chicarron (sp?) is a must.

Cajun: Tibbys New Orleans Kitchen- Can't go wrong here. I haven't had anything that I didn't like like from here.

Subs: Publix- Yes it is a grocery store but they are good.

I love Anthony's Pizza! I haven't been to Johnny's Fillin Station or Burger Fi, would really like to go one day.

My girlfriend's aunt is a manager at johnnys fill in station, it's great food. The burgers are awesome, as well as the wings.

For Latin (Peruvian/Columbian) Pio Pio is really quite good. I have never eaten in but I use them for catering all the time. There's one off of Semoran down towards the airport and one off of I drive.

Thai Food. Thai Singha in Waterford is really good. The drunken noodles are top notch! And I hate Waterford but go there to get those noodles

I've been to Pio Pio one time and I really enjoyed the rice and grilled chicken I had.

Indian Cuisine: Saffron in Dr. Phillips, Aashirwad corner of Kirkman and International.

Pizza: As far as chains go... Flippers, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza (oh their wings are good too! Corner of Turkey Lake and Sandlake Rd.) and Mellow Mushroom (I-drive) is cool.

Columbian style cuisine: Pollos Mario on OBT

A cool place for burgers and wings I didn't see anybody mention: Marlow's Tavern (really good sangria!)

Diner: Too Jay's (great Reuben sandwich!)

Hibachi: Benihanas (I-drive)

Sushi: Tokyo Sushi (I-drive) small family owned spot, great bento box lunch menu.

Northerner looking for home fries in Orlando for breakfast? Keke's Breakfast Cafe (several locations).

Breakfast: First Watch Cafe

Chinese, Latin fusion: El Flamboyan (OBT)

Italian: Fama's Restaurant on Central Florida Parkway

I'm looking for some good Jamaican food, and Chinese food suggestions!!

For Chinese there is a place at Aloma and Howell Branch. It is called Chin Hua and it is fantastic. Been getting food from there for years. My go to dish there is General Tso's Chicken and chicken fried rice which is made fresh and it isn't dried out at all. Also they make a fantastic corn soup there.

Nice. Never ever really hit that side of town, but I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks!

Pizza: Rigazzi's in Winter Park is pretty good, though honest I'm a Papa Johns fan, lol

And with one line all credibility at judging good pizza flies out the window...

Not sure if its been mentioned yet but "That One Spot" is a burger place in Ocoee and their burgers are REALLY good. Its walk up service like Five Guys but you can get Teak like burgers. No booze though ;/

5 Guys is just a good Fast Food Burger about same level as Steak n Shake and almost as good as Denny's.

You know NOTHING about food. First they were marginally better than Wendy's now they're almost as good... both incorrect statements.

Park Avenue Pizza in downtown winter park is pretty good. You'll be thrown by the Asian owners but the pizza is fantastic. Valdianos in Winter Park village has won the sentinels best pizza award several times and is very good.

don't get me wrong, I haven't eaten at Five Guys in probably 3 or 4 years. There are a lot of better burgers out there. I'm just saying they're still better than anything you'd get from Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, Steak & Shake, Denny's, etc.

For me they're definitely in the bottom ring of that mid-range Burger, just saying they're better than BMP is insinuating, and I think most would agree with that.

I do think they are better than Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, Steak & Shake, but not Denny's.
