This is reminiscent of the old threads where we'd win a game everything is fine, we'd lose a game and some would either call for a firing of the coach or immediate trade of a player.

I personally am fine with the tread discussion going on though, Vic does present an interesting situation right now in that on one end of the court he is getting the business done, but at the other end he is not living up to expectations (a cancer?, no).

He will have a few seasons up near 18ppg, but will wind up overall around 15. He's played over 5,000 minutes in the NBA already. That's a sizeable sample to draw upon.

With those stats he must return to being an off-ball 2 guard who never runs the offense, NEVER. Play defense, move the ball on the other end, cut, and make the occasional 3. Come off screens and hit a mid-range jumper every once in a while.

A typical Oladipo offensive game should be: 2 made 3 pointers. 1 or 2 made mid-range jumpers. 2 made drives. 3 FTs made.
I'm all for it, I like his defense, and I think if he could be solid, shoot 45% from 2 and 35% from 3pt he would greatly improve our team.

He's not a cancer but he's not the player many hoped he would be. A lot of that is timing/organizational. We needed someone to grab onto and he was the one there for us. I give the guy a ton of credit for putting up with trying to get turned into a PG for an entire season plus, then being mix'd and match'd for another. Now he's being asked to revert to his college style and he seems as lost as ever. Hesitant on offense, missing layups, avoiding contact. It's a mess right now.

This kind of transition is not the wise thing to do for a coaching staff to place on a third year player if he's used to playing a certain way. That's screwing up his confidence in his abilities to be effective on both ends. Kind of reminiscent to how the Grizzlies screwed up O.J. Mayo's confidence after his rookie year where he just averaged 20.2 PPG. In his second season, he was forced to play off the bench and play PG( didn't work due to dribble issues) in order for Rudy Gay to come up to the front for the Grizzlies. That plan blew up in the Grizzlies faces and cost them both Mayo and Gay in the long run.

I see it happening though, no? Oladipo looks broken.

For me, it's tough to say due to that I don't get to see as many games like some of you guys get to do in Orlando. I don't agree that Oladipo is a cancer by no means. It could be that Skiles system and the way Oladipo plays is not on the same page right now. Those two need to have a one on one session and figure out how they need to compromise for the better of each other and the team so the issues can be iron out and hopefully Oladipo can get back on the right track. If Oladipo works hard enough, he might earn himself an all-star status one of these seasons.

This might be it right here...

I thought about it, and I can't really say anyone besides Fournier has flourished in this new system. Everyone else offensively looks a bit worse or taken out of their element at this point (Which makes sense). It is the start of the season so we won't really get a true idea of the offense and overall state of the team until January when the season really ramps up.

Until then we're going to see fluctuating numbers offensively for Oladipo/Vucevic/Harris/Payton...

Perspective is everything here...

Nope... If anything, Skiles' offensive scheme is a cancer for this roster.
