Who do we get?
So with all the money floating around out there, do you really think that we are going to end up with anyone that will help?
I read all the rumors about players maybe going somewhere else, but I never see the Magic mentioned.
So realistically, what do you guys think? Do we end up with any significant free agent players or keep just our own players?
With all the potential with cap space, future picks, desirable players, etc. Will we be happy or end up with a goose egg this time around?

Yeah the talk is more about the one or two big names like Durant and that is about it for now with some speculation about guys who have connections here(like Horford). Once the Finals wrap up we will probably see more speculation but until we get closer to the actual end of the league year and free agency is only a day or two away will see more substantial talk about who is talking to who and where players are possibly visiting. This is a very tough year to have money so even though we have a lot there is no guarantee we will get one of the bigger names. We have to wait and see as it is all speculation right now. But we could get someone significant we just have to wait and see. I do expect us to add at least something whether that is more similar to what we have been getting is remain to be seen.

GREAT THREAD!

There are hardly ever rumors about Orlando now and its because Rob likes to keep things under wraps. We most likely won't know until its happening or the other team(s) involved start leaking stuff in attempt to gain leverage in trades.

Re: Who do we get?
We end up with...
-Evan Fournier (long term, near max deal)
-Ian Mahinmi (long term deal that comes in a little less than what Ezili gets)
-Jeremy Lin (Short term deal that gives Lin a chance to earn a better deal elsewhere, ends up being 3rd string here)
-Jason Smith (Short term deal, slightly above the vet min)
Wouldn't be shocked to see Dedmon back...or even Jennings instead of Lin.

Re: Who do we get?
It's tricky to forecast, because we don't know what Durant will be looking for in order for him to seriously consider us.
I've noted before that he likes skilled players, and has referred to Bird and Durant as the type of players he'd like to play with. So in that regard, maybe he sees great appeal in teaming up with Vuc? Not to mention he has a friendship with Oladipo, too.
On the flip side, he's going to want to be surrounded with players who are ready to win now, and he'll likely want a bonafide #2 option. Does he see that already on the roster, or would we need to trade for that? In which case, our best trade pieces are probably Vuc and Oladipo, which goes against the first option. Unless we trade Gordon and Hezonja to secure that talent, which I don't believe the FO would consider.
If we get Durant, I think we get Horford, too. And we might even make a trade for Butler (Vuc + Vic for Butler + Portis).
Horford
Gordon/Portis
Durant/Hezonja
Butler/Fournier
Payton/Watson
If we don't get Durant, I think we keep everything as is and we add cheaper, more attainable guys.
Biyombo/Mahinmi
Lin (he had some big playoff games, so I expect that to be in his favour)
A veteran 3-D SF.
A veteran PF
Biyombo/Vuc
Gordon/PF
SF/Hezonja
Dipo/Fournier
Payton/Lin

Yeah I don't think we have much if any chance at getting Durant. I also doubt that Chicago would trade Butler and Portis for Vuc and Vic.

If we get Durant, dipo isn't going anywhere. They are boys and KD will want him to stay on the Magic. Butler wants to be a first option but he is more of a second on a championship contender.

I think you meant to quote Bensational and not me. But anyway I wouldn't hold out hope for Durant. I think he likely signs a one year deal with OKC with a slight chance he leaves(in which if he does Golden State, Washington and Boston are the likely landing spots). As for Butler I don't think Durant wouldn't like to have him to play with. He doesn't seem to mind Westbrook at all so if he doesn't have a problem there then I doubt he has a problem with Butler. But as I said I doubt that Vuc + Vic for Butler is something Chicago would even come close to accepting(much less them throwing in Portis, who isn't just a throw in). I think it would require us to give a lot more and I am not sure if I would do that. If we make some good moves in free agency then we could include more but that remains to be seen. We shall see what happens.

To be fair we have been talking about this at greater lengths in other threads dedicated to this topic. So you should check those out and you might find a lot more opinions on the subject.

Everyone will be happy to know that this baby elephant was "rescued" from the hole. Although he still lives in Thailand which is unfortunate.

I was thinking the same thing. Good thing a new one was started rather than using one of the existing threads. That would have been way too efficient.
Plus the subject here is much less descriptive, so this thread has greater flexibility than the others do.
