News On Second Round Pick Magic got for #47

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Fri Jun 24, 2016 5:38 pm

Everyone,

The pick The Magic got from Portland for #47 Jake Layman was Portland's own 2019 second round pick.

Here is The Magic's Updated Draft Pick Situation.

They have ALL of their own picks and the following ones from other teams.

2017 second round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's 2017 2nd round pick to Orlando (via Boston to Cleveland) protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Orlando will be extinguished) [Boston-Sacramento, 2/24/2011; Boston-Cleveland, 9/25/2014; Cleveland-Orlando, 1/12/2016]

2019 first round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
If the L.A. Lakers convey a 1st round pick to Philadelphia in 2017, then the L.A. Lakers' 2019 1st round pick to Orlando; if the L.A. Lakers do not convey a 1st round pick to Philadelphia in 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey their 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando [L.A. Lakers-Orlando, 8/10/2012]

2019 second round draft pick from Cleveland, Houston or New York (swap for single most favorable, ORL outgoing to NYK)
Orlando has the right to swap its 2019 2nd round pick for Cleveland's 2019 2nd round pick or Houston's 2019 2nd round pick (via New York); if Orlando exercises this swap right, then New York will receive the Orlando pick and the less favorable of the Cleveland pick and the Houston pick; if Orlando does not exercise this swap right, then New York will receive the Cleveland pick and the Houston pick [Cleveland-New York-Oklahoma City, 1/5/2015; Houston-New York, 2/19/2015; New York-Orlando, 7/9/2015]

2019 second round draft pick from Portland
Portland's 2019 2nd round pick to Orlando [Orlando-Portland, 6/23/2016]

2020 second round draft pick from Cleveland
Cleveland's 2020 2nd round pick to Orlando (via Portland to Cleveland) [Cleveland-Portland, 7/27/2015; Cleveland-Portland, 2/18/2016; Cleveland-Orlando, 2/18/2016]

Not gonna get it.

Gonna end up being the 2 2nds.

We're gonna end up keeping our 2nd or swapping it. Not really an added pick.

2019 second round draft pick from Portland
Portland's 2019 2nd round pick to Orlando [Orlando-Portland, 6/23/2016]

2nds are fun!

2020 second round draft pick from Cleveland
Cleveland's 2020 2nd round pick to Orlando (via Portland to Cleveland) [Cleveland-Portland, 7/27/2015; Cleveland-Portland, 2/18/2016; Cleveland-Orlando, 2/18/2016]

Lebron will be gone by then... so yay!

Skin,

Whether or not they get The Lakers pick depends on how The Lakers do in The Draft Lottery. We have to be hopeful.

In 2019, it might be nice to swap for Houston's second round pick.

Additional Seconds can be used to deal up in the second round and with The NBA likely to add two developmental slots for each team in the CBA, positioning in the second round will be more valuable.

Depends how the Lakers do in free agency but could certainly see them heading for another bottom 5 finish, which would give them a pretty good shot at top 3 (the pick is top 3 protected).

If they get #4+ though we'll get that 1st in 2019. Either way impossible to predict how good of a pick that will end up being.

Pistons had a future 1st round pick from the Kings I think way back when. Then, the time came and they drafted Milicic over Melo, Wade and Bosh . . .
