You gotta remember though, the core of our team was all hocky guy lol. Howard, Turk, Meer, and with those guy slotted in it made finishing the team much easier. Sorry to get off topic but I really disliked Goatis who imo is one of the worst we've ever had as gm.
Yeah, Weisbrod really laid the foundations for that 09 finals team in the Summer of 2004, when he acquired 60% of the starting line up over the span of just weeks.
Always thought Weisbrod made some good decisions that were gutsy and highly unpopular at the time, but in hindsight turned out to be right. T-Mac + E Okafor as the focus would have been a pretty bad team.
Agreed. Weisbrod has always gotten a bad rep but as a hockey guy was fighting a losing battle from the start.
That 04-05 team with Francis, Mobley, Hill, Howard and Cato starting with Turk, Jameer and Battie off the bench was actually very entertaining the first couple of months of the season and had a decent w-l record. Then after losing 3 in a row early Jan, Weisbrod traded Mobley for Doug Christie and that was the end of that.
