This is exactly right. It is a huge point of contention for me with them. I was supposed to get 100 mb/s and they lied and promised I would. Nope, I get 60. I absolutely hate Spectrum.

Some companies also cut down ur speed if they feel like your constantly streaming which is unethical. So yea u can bypass cable but how are you going to bypass an internet connection?

I use Sling now with a Roku. Honestly better than cable. I get every Magic game and don't have many issues. Have had no problems with any live sports.

I live in Texas. I can only watch the Magic on League Pass. So it doesn't help me there.

For any standard TV I could want, Sling was fantastic. I loved the On Demand feature to replace needing a DVR.

But again, despite paying extra for business tier internet speeds Sling often struggled with live sports. If I tried working while watching a game (a very regular event) the feed was laggy as hell.

Sling is a cute product and a great first step. Amazon will help take things to a new level.

Thats wild. I have not had that issue at all thankfully. I'm on 60 mb/s.The one thing I do have is a lag. I am probably 45 seconds behind, but it's not a huge deal. Interested in how it goes with Amazon for sure.

Yeah, Lesgue Pass and other live streaming services run just fine without lag. So it isn't my connection (it better not be at this price!) or my work while I watch. The problem is unique to live sports on Sling.

There is of course a lag behind real time (45 seconds sounds about right) but that is consistent over the entire broadcast so I don't care. What drives me nuts is when the feed stalls, freezes for a second or two and then catches up with me having missed a piece of the action. Once or twice a game is manageable but every other minute? I'm high maintenance I guess.

Oh yeah, if that happened to me, I'd be out. Luckily not an issue on the Roku premium. I also hardwire it - no wireless.

Spectrum appears to be charging $45 for their base 60Mbps internet plan. Brighthouse was charging like $60 for their base 25-30Mbps last year....

For a minute I was worried about my decision in cutting cable. Looking back I'm so glad I did it. I really don't see myself ever going back. Money wise alone it's definitely worth not having cable, and hearing things like this justifies it even more. Internet/Stream is where it's at.

Yes if you just need 60, you are good. They are targeting families and homes with more bandwidth required. So when you jump to the next tier of speed, you basically have to pay so much that cutting cable does not really save much money.

I know what you mean because thats the plan I have in my home. I have the 25bps for $56. I tried to get Spectrum to offer me a better deal and they would'nt budge. They may give you a better deal but only if you bundle it with other stuff which makes no sense unless you are one of those older folks that can't stand to part with their landline or use their cable which defies the point since we would prefer to get rid of it in the first place.

The $45 offer is temporary with a contract and then it goes up to almost $100 with taxes and all.

It looks like there was a short-term extension on Monday but they are saying the signal could be pulled today.

No matter what, I want to watch the game tonight.

After tonight, it will be about the possibility of FX being dropped.

This. I've saved a ton of money since cutting the cord.

Spectrum customers are in the clear tonight as the website is saying Thursday is the deadline. This means they likely agreed to another short-term extension.
