Its really not a big deal. We gave up a pick for Stan. Dude was under contract, it happens.

When have Spurs ever asked for compensation for hiring away one of their guys?

It's a second round pick for chrissakes.

Yeah, but it's likely to be a high 2nd round pick.

I don't think 2nd round picks can be considered throwaway anymore, with the number of quality picks that have been coming out of the 2nd round.

2016 - Brogdon, Ulis
2015 - Harrell, Hernangomez
2014 - Jokic, Clarkson, McDaniels, Robinson III, Powell, Jerami Grant
2013 - Crabbe, Lauvergne
2012 - Dray Green, Crowder, Middleton, O'Quinn
2011 - Parsons, Bogdanovic, Cory Joseph, Leuer
2010 - Whiteside, Stephenson

You could build a great team just out of those 2nd round picks.

Jokic/Whiteside
Green/Harrell
Crowder/Parsons
Middleton/Crabbe
Joseph/Brogdon

So I can understand people getting upset about giving up potential value like that.

Nice presser. I like the last thing he said. "we gotta develop our young guys".

Pretty ironic that Magic use a draft pick that Hennigan acquired in his first transaction as Magic GM to replace him.

(Yes I understand that PBO and GM are two different positions, but Hennigan was in charge of the basketball side, now Weltman is)
