Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz will be joining ESPN as NBA Draft analysts.

You ll now have to pay for insider to get their stuff

Insider is cheap and offers enough interesting content to make it well worth it.

People here worry too much about small money.

I remember when they first started the site years ago and wondering how they could make a business model for a site like that work. I don't blame anyone for making a living with ESPN.

Yes good on them, scouting takes **** load of time so you can't say that they put the hours into it.

Well done.

What a shame they ended up with ESPN and not with some group who would actually allow them some creative freedoms, like The Ringer or The Vertical.

Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz both work very hard and I am happy for them.

Givony is also a former RealGM Moderator.

Both definitely deserve this and if you need to get Insider to see their stuff, it will be 100 percent worth it.

Good for them, they've been doing great stuff for years and likely not making much money from it. They deserve to get paid.

People don't appreciate the cost of creating content. They just love consuming it and expecting it for free.

That's how we end up with subpar media, because people settle for the cheap/free alternatives instead of the professionals who are worth the money.

I disagree with this though because ESPN and Orlando Sentinel are both places that you have to pay to get news from and both have been subpar for awhile. It was most of the free sites and twitter where the best news comes from. I'm obviously alright with these two guys doing what they need to get paid, but I disagree that paying for it makes it better or is necessary.

I never use ESPN or Draftexpress for that matter, so this doesn't affect me in the slightest. I get all my basketball news on this website.

Very true, the democracy of the Internet is what opens opportunities for startups and disrupters to come in and make a name for themselves. But for every draftexpress, it also opens the door for a Magical.

Established Media isn't without its faults or biases, but it is where a lot of the best quality people end up. When standards news isn't up to scratch, that's when a Huffington Post or Vice appears - but even they need to pay the bills somehow. And amongst all the free media that's available, there are way too many charlatans around spreading misinformation amongst the likes of Draftexpress who are doing it properly and with passion.

Chad Ford was always a joke to me.

Hope they don't turn the DX guys into writing trash.

And I love DX but I'm not paying money to read mock drafts.

For both guys, it's well deserved. Their hard work paid off and they're reward for how they reached their bball audience. I will miss DX and their informative content throughout the years. I wish both Givony and Schmitz the best of luck with ESPN.

The irony here is that Chad Ford had a site called NBAtalk before he got hired at espn.
