Presti: "Hey Mr. Bennett, you remember Rob Hennigan from his time here, don't you? Well Rob is a friend of mine and he recently lost his job because he was deemed incompetent to run a basketball team. He needs some work and I was wondering if we could bring him on our staff."

Bennett: "Sam, all of our positions are filled with competent people..."

Presti: "We can make up a position. He really needs the money as he's not very good at managing it. Between the two of us, he's not the brightest crayon in the box. We can just tell him that he has an important role by adding 'VP' in his job title."

Bennett: "Presti, how much is this gonna cost me?"

Presti: "Not much at all sir, and with all the extra jersey sales from George, Anthony, and the reigning MVP, you won't feel it at all.."

Bennett: "You did just get me two all stars... why not. Tell your friend he's hired. Just tell him to stay away from anything basketball. Orlando still looks horrible. I mean he paid a no name 72 million based off one playoff series."

Presti: "Thank you sir. You're the best."

That's an amusing title considering that this is the guy that tanked for one of the weakest drafts in recent memory, spent big in free agency in the very worst summer to do so in the history of the NBA, and let the agent of an inconsequential player signing take a photo with your future plans in the backdrop.

When you think about it the appointment makes perfect sense. You ask him what you think the organisation should do and then do the opposite of what he says!

Blech. I'd bet a month's salary that DeVos or Martins were behind the Ibaka trade and throwing away Harris. The Ibaka trade fits a pattern that stretches back to the Otis era; throw away assets in a lunatic attempt to find immediate talent--even though no reasonable, knowledgeable person would expect there to be any talent. When Otis was here it was natural to assume he'd made the Turk and JRich signings based on his own judgement, but since moving on to Hennigan we saw Skiles brought in as coach (even though, as it later came out, he simply pestered the FO nonstop about coming in, and then quit on the team shortly after joining), Harris thrown away, and the Ibaka trade. That distinctive lack of rational thought tells me that ownership is exerting more influence than is publicly acknowledged. I don't think it can be assumed that Hennigan actually wanted to give up Vic and other assets for Ibaka. (If you want to attack Hennigan for anything besides hiring Skikes, losing Harris, and getting Ibaka go ahead. I don't have much of an opinion either way, but to each their own.)
