It's just shaping up to be an epically deep draft class. There shouldn't be any regrets about taking Isaac, and other teams shouldn't regret taking the guys they took.
My only regret is that we didn't trade up and nab Mitchell for cheap like the Jazz did. Damn he's good. I'd prefer him off the bench over Mack, any day.
Markkanen, Ntilikina and Mitchell were my guys pre-draft. Tatum, Jackson, Isaac and DSJr were all amongst the names of other guys I would've been happy with.
It really is looking deep, I remember wanting to trade Fournier, Ross, Vucevic, Augustine to move up from #21 and try and get a 3rd pick to get Isaac, Frank/Smith, and Giles I think it was. No idea Mitchell was this good. I wanted to blow the whole team up though, get those guys, tank, get Porter or Doncic, and then make a run from there. It is a shame we couldn't move up for Mitchell though, they wouldn't have cost much, (cash or protected future picks), and really sad we could get one of those guards, with Payton that would be our PG rotation sorted, just down to them to battle for the spot full time
Mitchell may very well end up being good, but he hasn't been thus far. He is just chucking right now:
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21356977/zach-lowe-10-things-like-featuring-kyrie-irving-nbaMitchell's numbers are just as bad: 34 percent from the floor, 31.7 on 3s. And, man, is he letting it fly. Mitchell is launching 19.6 shots for per 36 minutes. Only 13 rotation players cracked the 19 barrier last season: Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Isaiah Thomas, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Damian Lillard, DeMar DeRozan, Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade (do you, Dwyane!) and Zach Randolph (guh).
That is not a group for Mitchell. At some point, you need to pass. The volume from Rubio and Mitchell is unsustainable.
I reckon he's worth the attempts. He already brings it on the other end, so he's earned the opportunity to try and flex his muscles and figure it out on the other end. In 2-3 years, he'll be one of those gritty 15-20ppg #3 options great teams covet.
