Trades that send out Vuc, Fournier, Ross, Hezonja, DJ, Mack for picks/young players buried on bench/expiring's.

Re: Poll: What kind of trade and when ?
One thing is for sure, the answers aren’t easy here. Enhancing our draft prospects by bottoming out on talent and adding future picks is the best option to build something long term. But were 6 years into this post Howard roster and quite frankly this team sucks, and I’d like to see it win soon. The fact that they have so much bad talent locked in for years makes me that much more glad Rob Hennigan got fired. The only good news in this mess is guys like Gordon, Vuc, and Fournier all have talent and value around the nba, so trading them away for a fresh start is viable. I think bottoming out is the way to go personally. I only keep Gordon, Issac and Simmons and move on from the rest. But I know we’re stuck with Biyombo’s horrible contract.

Magic_Johnny12 wrote:Ehhh I'm not sure I like Simmons starting at the 2, he is perfect off the bench. It's not coincidence that literally every "good" game he has he's still in the negative. He is wayyyyy too ISO happy and that could hurt a team a lot more than people think.
I would only trade Fournier if the package was in our favor and not to simply do a trade. He has positive value and on a good long contract and has a skill that could benefit ANY team. I say hold on to him for the right deal and not rush in trading him.
IMHO we should sell high on Vuc. He's having a career year and is on a cap friendly contract for another season. I love the guy, but if we could package him and another asset for a superior player I will do it in a heartbeat.
Basically every player on our roster should also be on the block besides Gordon, Issac.
HezonGOD is a goner come season end so play him as much as we could, raise his value as high as it possibly can go and deal him to the highest bidder. No one is going to offer anything substantial (Protected FRP) so I would try to target young "Tobias Harris" players for him straight up. So players not getting much run with their former club due to whatever situation that advanced numbers indicate they will succeed in a bigger role/situation. For ex. players such as Maker/Chris/Bender etc.
IMO players realistically being moved in order from most likeliness to least..
- Vuc
- Hezonja
- Payton
- Augustine
- Ross
- Mack
- Speights
- Biyombo
- Affalo
- Fournier
- Simmons
- Gordon
- Issac
No one is trading for players like Iwundu/Birch/Payne etc
This is solid.

I do not envy WeHam. There are so many variations that are and will come into play. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds but luck is something we’re going to need.

Trade everyone not named Aaron Gordon or Jonathan Isaac.... Tired of trying to fix this dumpster fire.
I dont want star players that wont re sign here either. So none of that Paul George bull just so we have to read peoples desperate posts about how he'll re sign here. "No state tax, new building, rich owner...."

With most of the Magic's best players injured, I cannot see a pre-ASW trade at this point.

Re: Poll: What kind of trade and when ?
Guys I keep coming back to...
McCollum-I'd overpay to get him and build around him. I'd like to keep Gordon but would give him (and Evan?)for McCollum. I understand McCollum should be untouchable but there is a case to be made for him and Dame not being a complementary match. Portland is a lot closer to winning than us, so could make a dramatic win-now move. I'd like to see him next to Ross in the backcourt (or Simmons or Evan if Evan isn't moved too). Again, like to keep AG but would do it because I'm betting on Isaac (if not both). I think Ross and Simmons have the defensive ability and size to complement him at the scoring point. I wouldn't mind EP off the bench and alongside him, but he needs to show a LOT more over the rest of this season to get paid...Even then, I think WeltHam have a lot of thinking to do and should certainly let him test the market and be prepared to let him go rather than overpay. Remember, not many teams have a lot of money and it's unlikely that they'd throw it at Payton to "steal" him from us. Gordon will have a lot more potential for big offers that we'll likely have to match (if he's still with us).
...Cauley Stein-any chance the Kings would trade him for Vuc? I don't consider him a star, but he'd be a great piece alongside a star. I just think he could be a defensive cornerstone along with Isaac. I'd basically overpay at this point because we're circling the drain/tanking and I'm more concerned about re-shaping our identity than winning today.
I'd rather not give up 1st rounders, unless we acquire them elsewhere (unless it's for a young proven 20+ppg character guy like CJ)-but the draft is really such a crapshoot. I think a few of our players could be really valuable to teams that are farther along than us and might allow us to aim a little farther down the road.

Re: Poll: What kind of trade and when ?
I sell high on Vuc but I would wait until draft night to move up or get an extra top 10 picks depending on the offers we get now. I would also take anything we can for Mario and Payton. Both are disappointments and wasted lottery picks. I'm pretty sure new management has seen that and has no intention of bringing them back and replacing them with actual NBA starting talent. Take what you can for them.
Also if we can get rid of Biz and DJs contract that would be great but highly unlikely anybody takes them.
This season has really put into perspective how much Hennigan and Martins destroyed this team and didn't know wtf they were doing. Trading away Dipo, Tobias, and keeping Payton, Mario for this long. Ridiculous.

I wonder if, in the history of the NBA, a mediocre/below-average team ever made a trade for an already established star and got better for it. I am genuinely curious.
I feel like players should become stars within your team. going after one only works when they are complementing an already working core, not if you are breaking what's left of your bank to have them.

The only players that another team would want are all injured lol.

The only outside chance I see for PG was if they could convince him to not opt out and give it a shot for a year with his former coach. If at/around the next trade deadline he's not happy with how things are going, trade him where he wants to go. But not much incentive for him to do that.

A couple more:
The 2009-10 Miami Heat was 47-35 before James (and was horrible just two years before); three straight Finals
The 2001-02 New Jersey Nets was 26-56 before Kidd; two straight Finals
