Of course I'd love to get Kawhi but here's something to consider and discuss. He's having this bizarre situation with what is generally considered to be the best run franchise in sports...I've read some supporting his position and comparing the alternative path to Grant Hill and Isaiah Thomas' injuries that did/could severely damage careers and legacies (because they (maybe) weren't handled conservatively enough)...I don't know the guy or the real situation but it does raise a concern that the "new Tim Duncan" is basically holding out on the almighty Spurs.

I can speak personally for the importance of believing you’re healthy and ready for 100% versus lacking that confidence following an injury. After my second time tearing the same knee the doctors told me my rehab was complete and while I would always feel discomfort in it, I was “good to go.” But I just could never get back on the court (tennis) and move with confidence the way I used to. It sticks in your head and impacts your actual game as well as your mobility.

This is why I never bashed Derrick Rose and why I’m sympathetic to Kawhi’s situation. There is a mental aspect to recovering from injury and that can very much be more difficult than the physical rehab. I don’t think he is “holding out” at all.

But this is why I wouldn’t sell the farm for him. This is serious and could be, as you suggested, a Grant Hill situation for anyone willing to take him on a $200M deal.

Isaac and SnT AG. If it comes to it, take back patty mills or Pau Gasol. They get a player that can help them win now and a prospect for the future. Also helps with clearing salary.

They can have a 2019 (or later) pick and their choice of pretty much anyone else to pair with one of these guys but I’m not giving up both Isaac and AG for Kawhi right now given what he is going through and the contract he is about to sign.

There is zero chance Kawhi goes from playing with a Hall of Fame coach on a yearly contender to suiting up with the Magic's dysfunctional organization with rotating coaches and lack of supporting cast. No way he would even don the uniform. He would probably sit out next year as well and wait for the next trade. People must be bored if they are thinking it could happen.

I'd rather pay Kawhi max money than AG. Isaac is years away from doing anything.

I don't think Kawhi is injured; he just doesn't want to play in SA/Pop.

We don’t have the money to pay Kawhi and then pay AG...

No you misunderstood...we’re going to pay AG a ton of money, so I’d rather trade him and put that money towards Leonard. That’s why I’m for trading AG. I’m not saying keep and pay both

I understood what you meant just fine even if that isn’t what you wrote. I’m simply bored and correcting your writing.

Gordon is a RFA so we can't just trade him. Yeah we can do a sign and trade but usually you don't get superstars in return that much. Plus I doubt San Antonio would trade him though they could as with the way things are going now. But I don't think we have that much that interests them. I do think we could field a competitive offer for them i just wouldn't do that deal while also having Kawhi capable of leaving us in one year. We would gut our team of talent to trade for him and I don't think we would be that appealing for him to stay.

The rumor of Markelle Fultz and Dario Saric for Kawhi Leonard is interesting for both teams. But if that kind of package is offered, Orlando is nowhere competent to make a better offer for Leonard.
