Not sure for the hate with Bamba... he is semi-raw but he can hit the 3, block shots and do things like this:

NO ONE is blocking that shot.

That said, there needs to be a plan in place with any draft pick. We pick Doncic, cool, who's playing PG and C? We draft Bagley, cool, what's the plan for JI, AG and Vuc (where does Bagley fit in)? We draft Young, cool, who is defending the paint and improving our horrible defense?

We suck so much that one pick isn't going to change everything unless we luck into a LeBron type of player.

I don’t hate Bamba per se. I like him better than JJJ or even Ayton, but I just can’t really justify ever spending a lottery pick on a big man unless they are an absolute game changer.

If we go for a big I’m more on board with Bagley (versatility and scoring upside) or WCJr (modern nba true Center).

If management can move Vuc for a decent return (another pick in the first round), I’m more than happy with Bamba.

locomagicfan wrote:I've been reading our Draft threads and anticipate a absolute meltdown on this board come Thursday night regardless of who the pick is. Our fanbase is very divided and each player has a Love Camp and a Hate Camp. The point being there is clear cut Saviour at #6. We have to accept we are picking a foundational piece who we hope can have star potential. Expecting anything more is a recipe for disappointment for the next 2-3 years as this player and our overall team find their identify.

Even if Trae is your pick because you believe he is Curry 2.0, curb expectations and remember Stephen didn't become a franchise player until about year 5.

Bottom Line: Chill. Trust we will get a good player. Respect the people who cheer the pick and hope they are right.

My take: We need everything. The only thing this pick tells me is the direction WeHam want to take this roster and the moves we might expect in the offseason.

I see the draft as this:
darthmerrick wrote:Based on who we brought in, I think Magic are picking Trae Young at 6 unless the Hawks pick him at 3. I expect at least one of Vucevic, Fournier, Ross to be gone by the end of the draft.

In my view the draft determines the off-season trades. I cannot see Fournier and Vučević both returning next year. But who goes really depends on Mr. #6.

p.s. I really like Fournier, Vučević, and next year's 1st for Parsons and #4 (if Dončić is available). The Casselberry kid will give a little bit more for his home town, and its not like the Magic can go after any FAs for 2 years anyhow.

The idea of a Young / Dončić backcourt without sacrificing Isaac nor Gordon, this is a no-brainer for me.

Bamba looks good on highlight films, but he looks extraordinarily bad on his weakness videos. Here is a video of both. I think his offense won't translate to the NBA well outside of dunks and lobs. Also, I don't know how good of a passer he is. If he don't pass well, then he may be a bust. Anyways, it is nice to dream of a defensive powerhouse tandem of Bamba, Isaac and AG on the court together.

I’m good with that.

... But I’m also good with another option or two.

And I see this as a legitimate possibility. A lot of people are sleeping on Sexton. He may very well be the choice and I’m ok with that. His work ethic is outstanding by all accounts and his shot is not as bad as advertised

I literally refuse to let myself think that we have a legitimate chance at him. I would absolutely lose my mind if he fell to us. I dont see a world where Dallas passes on him though.
