We're at $90m before AG's contract/cap hold, so we're virtually just working with the MLE (~$8M) and trades to add some scoring and playmaking. Guys who signed for around $8m last year were Cristiano Felicio, Jamal Crawford, Rudy Gay, Langston Galloway, CJ Miles, Patrick Patterson, Milos Teodsoic, and our own Jonathon Simmons. Maybe we'll find a rotational guard to add with that to replace Mack.
Vooch doesn't have any value past being an expiring, and we shouldn't be taking on more bad money right now. He's a buyout candidate just like Greg Monroe last year. He's a below average center in this league and already turning 28. The only reason to keep him around is as a salary filler if we combine him with some real assets.
Don't have much optimism for bringing Mario back either.. it'd be too easy for another team to steal him with such a small investment compared to the cap, I think the writing is on the wall after drafting two guys in the 2nd round who can take his minutes.
We have no real positive assets besides Fournier (do we really want to move our best shooter when shooting is one of our biggest weaknesses?), Isaac (not going anywhere anytime soon), and AG (S&T possible but it would be trading Dipo all over again). Don't see much activity happening on this front more than lateral moves with vets. Ross has some value as a 3&D wing that's on an expiring contract, but I don't think we're getting a starting PG for him.
We're likely walking in to next season with a top 8 rotation of DJ - Fournier - AG - Isaac - Biyombo - Mack - Simmons - Ross - Bamba, which should easily solidify us as a bottom 5 offense.
Bolded is absurd. I'm not saying he's a prime asset, but he can certainly net us a stop-gap PG by himself. His expiring status further incentivizes trading for him. Vuc can give you double doubles all season on good efficiency. He could start at C for a lot of teams. It's fairly logical that he will be traded soon, but he's worth way more than just his expiring.
MIL got Bledsoe for Greg Monroe. That should be the bar.

Yeah I think we are one stud PG away from building something that will make us sustainable playoff team. As they grow and develop together... woweeeeee!
Ross isn't a part of our long term vision. But I think he's a good depth guy.
I really appreciate your enthusiasm. I really do. Problem is where are we gonna find a stud PG? Most names that are being mentioned are second stringers at best. I've been thinking about it for a while but the only "former" stud PG available, if able to get into form, is IT. Other than that who? I read something somewhere about Fultz, as exciting as the thought may be there's so many question marks. Last season was a disaster for a #1 pick standards. Who's out there that can get the offense going? Smart? Exum? Van? Who? I really really hope we move Vuc, Bamba needs to be forged by force and yes I believe we need a decent to great PG to make this work and get buckets/offense because as of right now it's Evan, hopefully we can retain Mario and that's a big if. PG is the task at hand and I'm not too sure we can make it happen. Not being a Debbie Downer just trying to stay a realist. Maybe next draft?
If our guys do what they need to do, that stud PG will come to us in FA. All we need to do is show fight in the playoffs and be prepared with cap space!
Or maybe he'll force a trade to us! PG3, Kyrie, Kawhi... these stories are becoming the norm.

WeHam have to figure out how to fill the rest of the roster out with players that can compliment the defensive force of a developing Isaac and Bamba. Best trade assets - Vuc and Resigned AG

Do you think we should keep Mack at 6m a year or get VanVleet who is a great shooter for 3 or 4m more per year?

I seriously doubt Mack is on the team next season, only 1m is guaranteed and they'll probably sign VanVleet who is a good shooter and defender.

its most likely they waive Mack. Vanvleet has done nothing to deserve $9-12mil/year.

You are probably right that Mack won’t be on the team. VanVleet would be a good pick up, but he’s not starting caliber IMO.

I agree he does have some value but I disagree that Vuc starts for a lot of teams. I think he is mostly a backup as he doesn't fit the modern style for an NBA big. He can be good quality reserve but most view him as backup who could start if need be this year but they would be looking for an improvement just like we did this year. I think many on here will be at least somewhat disappointed by the return we get for Vuc if he is traded which I wouldn't say is definitely happening. I think we will try and a trade is likely but we don't know for sure what will happen so we shall see.
What hurts Vuc is the fact that he isn't very fast on his feet, but he can definitely be a stretch 5 if you use him that way. He can slide out to the three on offense and take a good shot for you if that's within the system. I don't think Vogel tried him enough in that situation. Again, a Vuc 3 shouldn't be your number one option, but he has range as well. He just doesn't look like Davis or Embiid because he lacks quickness and athleticism on their level.

Re: Draft complete! Now what?
I hope we get rid of Vuc & Biz both, but Vuc more so obviously. Think we’d be just fine with Bamba, Birch, and Isaac filling in at center. Maybe one guy in the Speights role.
Part of the reason I don’t like the pick is I know he’ll get buried and we’ll just act like it’s okay and it’s really rewarding to earn minutes because it worked for JJ Redick ten years ago here.

Re: Draft complete! Now what?
We are a bad team which is over the cap once we resign AG. What can one expect that we'll do?
Mack is most probably gone, but if he is retained, that means next season with him on payroll we will effectively have 4 expiring contract with total of $35M (Vučević, Ross, Simmons, Mack).

If you put Vuc as a 4 then his defense gets even worse as he can't guard 4s or any of the smaller guys when he has to switch. Yes he can shoot but he isn't that great when you get out to three point range. And is he going to be able to get a good shot off. With his lack of great athleticism guys are going to be able to stay right on him and don't have to worry about him necessarily getting past them. Sorry but I think he wasn't used that way because he isn't suited for that. Just because a coach got fired or you don't agree with him he very well may be right on this one and I agree that he shouldn't be used at the 4 as you also then take him further away from the basket which also hurts his rebounding prowess. Vuc is strictly a 5 in my book and more of backup then a starter.
