I like how Issac moves on offense. Still a lot of work to do but positive signs.
You can see how Bamba and Issac can impact things defensively too.
A very good team effort tonight.
Almost staring to sound like you're coming around to the idea that Isaac can do more than just play the 4.![]()
Telling ya.... AG and Isaac will coexist!
We will see but Isaac looked good offensively.
Will it work with the 3 of them together? A lot still has to happen and we need to see them in actual regular season action.
Some positive signs but still not sure Isaac can play the 3.
Are you not sure he can play the 3 at all or do mean full time? I definitely don't think he should be a full time 3. But something I've been saying since the 2017 draft when we were evaluating Isaac's fit on this team is that I hope we would see this kind of usage at least part time if not closer to full time...
AG at the 4 on offense
AG at the 3 on defense
JI at the 3 on offense
JI at the 4 on defense
This is something that I hope to see more of this year. I agree with you as far as "we will see" in terms of it's effectiveness, but I think this is the way for us going forward. I just don't believe AG has to go in order for JI to flourish.
I also don't believe in cookie cutter positions like we're used to labeling. The terms PG, SG, SF, PF and C are becoming a thing of the past. We basically have a Ball handler, who could play any position (1-4)... A Big to defend down low... and then the rest are wings (of different shapes and sizes).... and even the Big can be played by a bigger sized wing.
This is what Brad Stevens said...
"I don’t have the five positions anymore," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said, per Kareem Copeland of the Associated Press. "It may be as simple as three positions now, where you’re either a ball-handler, a wing or a big.
"It's really important. We've become more versatile as the years have gone on."
If you need to label positions, AG could play SF, PF, C. Isaac could play SF, PF, C. Bamba could play PF, C.
For us...
Ball Handlers: Augustin, Briscoe, Grant
Wings: Fournier, Simmons, Ross, Gordon, Isaac, Iwundu, Frazier
Bigs: Bamba, Isaac, Gordon, Vucevic, Birch, Mozgov

so what was Horford when Baynes played? a wing? its a bit easier when your Center can slide to PF like Horford can, to say there arent positions anymore. That only works with a few teams. Stevens played lineups similar when at Butler, mainly because he couldnt recruit many bigs, so he would only have 1 to use and have his bigger wings play center at times to give their big a break. call them positions or call them positionless, doesnt make much difference.
