This is a legitimately excellent deal for Gordon.
It’s a 4 year, 76M deal. 19M per season.

Deals like this really make me laugh when I read people say that our FO has made boneheaded moves for 12 months and don’t know what they are doing. These guys have made a few small mistakes for sure, but the big choices so far have been home runs, and that is the key to getting this team back on track.

I agree. We are starting to look like modern innovative team. Strong scouting, great negotiating, patience. We have Gordon on a deal i am really excited about. Getting him below 20 M and happy is huge. Deacrising salary makes him ultra movable. I am not the biggest AG fan out there but this contract looks like bargain and they allowed him to save his face.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

$19M per on average but not in actuality. It is front loaded and decreases every year.

It has plenty of incentives though that could push the yearly amount to higher. No clue yet what those incentives are, but if it pushes AG to superstardom, we should be happy to pay it.
this is my signature.

I was semi-annoyed with the reported deal initially. not because I think AG didn't deserve it, but because I thought we had enough leverage to negotiate a better deal than that. this one seems perfect.

A polite request:
For those of us in the EU, can the deal be translated to this post?

just showing that it is a tapering deal
The Sentinel has learned Gordon will earn base salaries of $21,590,909 this upcoming season, $19,863,636 in 2019-20, $18,136,364 in 2020-21 and $16,409,091 in 2021-22.
His average base salary will be $19 million.
Gordon also could earn $1 million in incentives each season. It’s unclear what would trigger those incentives. If he earns those incentives in all four seasons, the total worth of his contract would balloon to $80 million.

WOW!
a) 76M is a lot less than the reported 84M
b) The Magic make the FA plash the year Gordon is only on the books for $18,136,364 in 2020-21.
c) If Gordon becomes all-world, the declining slot line could dampen a maximum value of a super max deal (which could be starting at 45M instead of 50M).
There is nothing to not like about this great news!

Re: Aaron Gordon Free Agency [signs 4/84million extension]
After he signed the lucrative, multi-year contract that should make him financially secure for the rest of his life, and after he wiped away the tears of joy, Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon celebrated the only way he knew how.
``Man, it brought tears to my eyes,’’ Gordon said of agreeing to a new contract with the Magic – the only NBA team he’s ever played for. ``I celebrated by going to UCF and getting up shots. The Magic (practice) floor wasn’t ready and I celebrated by getting shots up, having the ball in my hands and looking at the basket. It is surreal, man, (the contract) brought tears to my eyes.’’
