It is not like Weltman is going to let it be known publicly that the reason for no signing was the report because then he could be responsible for effectively killing any interest in IT from other teams. With all of the reports we saw, IT following the Magic and Magic players on Twitter, the evidence points to a situation where the Magic did had discussions with IT. The new reports suggesting they never spoke to him seems more like a cover up as to not hurt IT personally. Nobody really knows except the Magic, IT, and his representatives, but that is my 2 cents.
The report does not say they did not speak. It says it did not go further and outright refutes negotiation took place. You can believe what you want but Robbins is way more credible than Kennedy or Kyler who reported the other things.
I agree it seems feasible that no direct negotiation for an actual contract took place. I would think the Magic would want to review the medical reports before providing an offer. This way the Magic know what they are buying. My comment was more directed at several posters who have gotten upset and have implied that the IT is a good fit for the team, but the Magic didn’t even try to land him.
I think the Magic looked into it and decided IT was an injury risk or at the very least a depleted player that they chose not to invest in. Nevertheless, as I said before, nobody knows the whole truth except for a select number in both the Magic and IT camp. I am merely trying to put the pieces together by reading multiple conflicting reports.
Sorry for the double post.
