He is still pretty skinny for C , letting him to grow and get stronger is probably smartest thing to do. Magic swipe ( i think ) pointed out how he isn't that skinny by posting pic of him palming ball. Problem, however, is that his legs are so damn skinny. His biceps looks bigger than calfs, literally
I don't want to see him torn his ACL,MCL or roll his ankle being all banged up after he faces Dwight and Kanter on back to back nights.

This led me to look up an image of Howard his rookie year, and it is amazing to see how undeveloped his chest was. Playing at the PF slot (and thus was not as beat up as Bamba will be), Howard was barely 12/10 on a huge 32 mpg.

Dwight was powerhouse, in first 7 years of regular season guy missed 7 games combined. That's 567 of 574

In general guy was always strong as a bull, and he was 6,7 months younger than Bamba i think? He was 19 years old thrugh whole rookie year i belive? Not 100% sure tho

Howard was born December 8, 1985, meaning he concluded the 2004/05 season as a 19 year old. Howard is a good 1 1/2 years younger than Bamba to initiate to the NBA.

Does depressingly familiar count?

I'm hoping, again, to be pleasantly surprised.

Seriously though, I genuinely expect a 32-35 win season.

But the Homer in me thinks:

The Magic really need to win their first two home games, as after that, the losses could pile on. If the Magic lose to the Heat as you predict, and then lose to the Hornets (possible, but perhaps not probable), after that there is a 4 game run where the Magic is very likely to lose all four games.

This scenario has Orlando as 0-6 to start the season. :o :( :o :(

I will add though, Isaac will be starting after deadline and think Simmons see's more of the backup SG minutes then Ross.

Ross is a better shooter (theoretically and historically) so that is why I had more more minutes for him at SG - we are in dire need of shooting on the floor

Career wise, Fournier has better 2%, 3% and eFG% lines than Ross.
Reference comparison of Fournier to Ross

Having the Frenchman at his natural position should really elevate his game.

I agree - I was responding to the comment that Simmons would play more minutes than Ross at SG - At SG I would feature Fournier and then Ross - keep Simmons at SF

Am I the only dork here who saw the headline being about opening night depth chat, and thinking it was going to be about posts in this forum on the opening night? I come in here, and see depth charts and do a double take... :D

What I like about Fournier starting at the SG is his intensity on both sides of the ball. What I like about Ross as a backup at SG is that he will be instant offense against sub-par defenders. What I like about Simmons as a backup SF is his versatility to play "position less" ball play to play.

It will be interesting to see how much time Ross and Simmons log together as bench players. They are complementary, so perhaps a good bit.

Ideally off the bench for Isaac and and Ross for Fournier. You are posting his empty stats like they mean something to me.

Agreed.... i believe that Ross and Simmons would be a very strong bench duo for our team at sg and sf. Playing aggressively against secondary talent will ultimately boost their value to the team.

Well, you did list him 3rd on the depth chart which isn’t the case. He’s solid # 2 if not a starter on this team. Honest mistake.

Oh that’s interesting. Who would you even entertain him starting over? Simmons and Ross are completely interchangeable to me at the 2/3 as backups depending on the matchup, so I don’t see that as a mistake.

SF is the only position he could start if he proves better than Isaac or Ross there. He’s better suited as a backup though.
