Iwundu looked godawful in SL, but he oddly played better during the prior regular season. He had some games with really solid defensive outings and ok offense.

I will be watching him preseason to see if he can show some signs of life. No need to put the nail in his coffin before the regular season has even began - especially since he is on a guaranteed deal and is probably not going anywhere just yet.

I do not fully follow the logic on costs.

Orlando does not have a free roster slot. Signing another player is not feasible without releasing a player under contract.

..

Because they wasted their roster spots (20 men) to some random dudes that even google can't find.
40% FG overall shooter from medicore team in Germany at age of 25 got 10 days contract.
I simply can't belive Jackson won't even be part of training camp. Especially when you know how sorry Frazier and Iwundu looked, with still clear need for backup PF.

I thought we got Jarrell Martin and amile jefferson as the backups.... and Gordon and Isaac can both man that position as well. looks like we have at least 3 pf and at least no "clear need".

And come on.... can't put nails in iwundu and fraziers coffins all ready. They might have struggled on offense... along with the entire team especially when Briscoe went down, and Isaac and Bamba no longer played. But they sure brought that defense. Offensive stats are great and i wished i saw those steps forward.... but it's tough judging a rookie and a second year player in such circumstances in 4 preseason games.

Jefferson is horrendus fit for Magic. He pretty much never leaves paint and offers zero spacing. Guy simply does not shoot from outside. Never did.
Martin made like 35 threes last year in 73 games, same problem just less obvious.

Frazier is player that puts his head down and goes yolo at drives at rim. Not sure how that will work in nba, for sure didn't work in SL. Another player with terrible jumpshot.
Iwundu... i know it's not fair to give up on player after two years but i did quit on him. He simply does not have anything to offer on offense and his defense does not match complete lack of offense. He is like poor man MKG and being MKG is already bad enough.
In last games of 17-18 season i wanted to see him playing PF, never happend. I can't really name single nba skill he has.

Angola, York, Cuptain or whatever his name is.. who da hell are that guys? Even google can't track their careers

I'm expecting Iwundu's third year option to be declined at the end of next month. He's not worth guaranteeing.

Did anyone really suspect that The Magic were going to take both second-round picks to camp?

I never did.

I'm sure more will come out about The Jackson situation.

However, The Magic made a good move with that pick they got in The Elfrid Payton deal.

They traded down two spots, picked up another future 2nd which was one of the two used in the Jerian Grant deal that also swapped out Bismack Biyombo for Timothy Mozgov.

What happens with Jackson is up in the air though but hopefully he will sign outright with Lakeland so The Magic retain his rights.

We should know soon.

Looks like Justin Jackson might be starting the game on Monday versus Chile as we ditched all our NBA players for this game. 9000kms of travel to play in Chile will do that. Looks like he might be playing SF next to Melvin Ejim (who should be in the NBA).
The game will be on ESPN+ If any of you want to watch it.

Adam Johnson: The NBA has sent Orlando Magic 2nd rd pick Justin Jackson a G League contract according to a league source. Prevailing thought is he will be a domestic draft-and-stash prospect and suit up for Lakeland.

10 points, 6 rebounds
3/4 overall
1/2 for 3
3/3 from FT

I'm happy to see him getting contract, still see zero reasons why he won't be part of training camp when some random scrubs like Angole, York and others are.

This is not a surprise and some second-round picks do sign outright with The G-League Team.

Tyler Harvey did this a few years ago when The Magic owned his Draft Rights.

The reason why The Magic don't want him in camp is they do not want to lose his Draft Rights when they would likely cut him.

Does that mean he is FA for other teams?
From what i saw, players signed with G league itself ( not nba team, but G league organisation) are aveliable for any team.
If he is signed with Magic ,he is their stash player and they keep all the rights, that i know for sure.

Confusing. At least to me.

I read that hes considered a domestic draft and stash so I'm interested in,some clarification on this
Edit: NVM
These players are signed undercontract with the league rather than the team, however, meaning they are technically free agents who can be called up to any of the 30 NBA teams. NBA G League teams hold local tryouts each offseason and can invite up to five players from these tryouts to their training camps.
